Re: WU errors

how many active WUs are you running on that system? If only 32GB, trying limiting it to 16 active WUs at first if errors go away, increase a couple at a time. Just a guess. I'm running a few standalone client instances and they close to 1GB much of the time and may spike higher.

Re: WUs with missed deadline

If they are running, let them run. If the project server wants to abort them, it will send a message to the boinc client and it will abort them.

Re: VERY long wu

LOL @Dirk Broer A bad WU is not unheard of. You should add a feature to your BT tool to set a max time limit for WUs on projects and abort them if they run longer than the max. Exactly what I was thinking. Put up an alert or perhaps auto-suspend a WU which was deemed 'excessive' by comparison to th...

Re: Another new Yoyo application: Siever

@Hal Bregg this is an ancient topic and has been going around every since GPU crunching 1st came out. Credit Screw, which Yoyo uses, was David Anderson's approach to "socialized" crunching. If he totally had his way it wouldn't matter if you were running a single Pentium computer or a 2990WX Thread...

Re: not going well (okay now though)

Sometimes a new opti app may run faster under Win64,
You can run both AMD and Nvidia GPUs at the same time under windows (I think that's a problem under linux)
I'm sure there are other apps that better under Windows.

I run linux most of the time but it's nice to have Win64 when you need it.

Re: not going well (okay now though)

Dual boot is the way to go. All but one of my rigs are that way and that's only because it's out general purpose system, server, etc.

Re: Intel HD400 GPU optimization

Collatz does have a GPU app for the Intel onboard GPUs. You just need to get the OpenCL drivers installed. It's not nearly as powerful as the gaming cards but it is faster than CPU. Beware though. The GPU is in the CPU die correct? So you need to watch the CPU temps really close? No multi-threaded a...

Re: New Radioactive@Home detectors might be coming...

http://radioactiveathome.org/boinc/show_user.php?userid=89069  It's an NCI app. To run on a raspberry pi (or maybe linux in general) you must configure permission to access USB devices to the boinc user. This worked for me... As root (sudo....) create a file in the directory /etc/udev/rules....

Krzysztof Piszczek is getting ready to ship the first batch of detectors. I think he may still be accepting orders. Join the project and PM him... http://radioactiveathome.org/boinc/ Or of you want to become a Patreon, he accepts donations. He does a lot for Boinc. I'm sponsoring him a little... htt...

Re: on Linux

The last system I installed Win 7 Pro 64 on just a month or so ago so it doesn't have a bunch of junk it and it's using 163 GB of disk. The last linux system Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu 14.04) is using less than 8 GB.
