Re: new gpu72 app

I had the 435 driver installed but it didn't work. There may have been an easier way but I had to revert to the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau driver, completely remove the nvidia driver, log out of the GUI, SSH into a command prompt, stop the X server, install the CUDA 10.1 tool kit without the 4.18 dr...

Re: new gpu72 app

What a pain but I finally got it running on my Mint 19.1 (Ubuntu 18.04) systems.

UAPs

Many of us started this hobby way back when it was just a single SETI@Home app we ran on our systems. So I think many have an open mind regarding ET. I'm just trying to open dialog on this subject. If you don't wish to participate, that's OK but I think more public conversation needs to occur on the...

Re: Board update to latest version. Post problems.

Not so much a problem, as a suggestion. Presently the discussion threads tend to be 'snowed-over' by daily and weekly stats, IMHO. Would it be an idea to add a button 'Stats' next to 'New - Active - Unread - Mine', and give that button access to a menu 'Daily - Weekly - Monthly - Yearly' ? And if t...

Very few if any problems since I cleared Unread Posts. Don't know if it that fixed it or something else you chaps did but works for me!

Re: Greetings ... and welcome ...

Gregg, do you know how to monitor the GPU temps and increase fan speed if needed? Running the optimized configurations will make them run hotter. i always believed that fan speed is an automatical option, and it icreases if needed without manual action . It should. I'm just over cautious and manual...

8x 7t WU at a time but I appear to have had an error in the formula. Re-testing.

Re: Sierpinski / Riesel Base 5 LLR

On my dual CPU 14c/28t Xeon V4 rigs, linux Mint 19.1 is slightly faster than Win7 64 and the sweet spot for these chips appears to be 7 threads per WU. I started at 28t per WU, then 14t, 7t and 4t. Pay per thread increased to 7t per WU, then the pay per thread dropped running 4t per WU.

I don't think hyper-threading hurts. The LLR apps run hot though so be sure you can keep your cool.

Ready!

For maximum credit during the challenge, clear your cache before the start and don't download any new WU until after the start. It's only a 24 hour challenge so it will make a difference.
