Re: Board update to latest version. Post problems.

Existing tables in https://tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=233 look mostly okay. Not quite the same as before but not sure it matters

That's the posh end of Aberdeenshire !! You'll find me in working-class Huntly. Our friends have the trout loch at Artloch but perhaps you're more into river fishing. Enjoy !

Oh don't worry, we'll get your gpu running much hotter than that

Which boinc projects have you tried running or haven't you got as far as that yet?

PS : heading to bed now so will talk more later

wowsers - you can do some damage with that. 5.1GHz would heat a small house, no?

Re: Welcome to SolidAir79

Hi SolidAir79 & welcome - you've come to the right place. The folks on here helped me hugely when I got started so feel free to ask about anything.

Could you maybe pop up your system spec as that'll be relevant to most questions. Oh, and whether you use Windows, Linux or both :-)

Re: Radeon R7 250X not detected by BOINC

Might be that it is too old for current drivers. I have an R7 350 running under Ubuntu but I recall having to go back to an earlier OS to support an ATI Firepro.something. If you start boincmgr on that machine, does the 'Activity' menu include option to enable/disable the GPU? You could also check T...

Re: BURP

Even if this bonanza lasts another 2 weeks, which I doubt, I personally wouldn't bother bunkering it for the next sprint. Bonanza seems to be over for now. Bunkering is rendered (pun intended) impossible by short deadlines and only 4WU issued per-instance. No, my sprint speculation will be elsewher...

I am wondering if this project has come alive for an upcoming FB Sprint. Maybe it doesn't work that way?

Re: BURP

Hmmm - I am running 3 instances each with a single 64 thread WU + 16 threads of Universe (to empty a buffer). htop is reporting long-term load averages of about 66-68 & I can't see any appreciable increase in computation time for Universe WU. HIghest RAM usage I've seen on htop is 24Gb (out of 32Gb ...

 :P

I'm running 2 instances simultaneously per machine i.e. 128 threads on a 2990WX. Have yet to see the load average exceed 40 so I am thinking I'll try 192 threads

Re: BURP

BURP has work (at least for CPU / Linux)

First WU have completed and are in Pending. Downloads a 700-ish Mb file on each instance though.

Can it be bunkered?

Re: WU errors

The DHEP forums suggest this is a Java / OS / cpu issue but basically they were washing their hands of it. I'll check all is up to date and retry at a future date <core_client_version>7.14.2</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> process exited with code 195 (0xc3, -61)</message> <stderr_txt> 09:...

Re: VERY long wu

ah sorry, I am writing a browser-based replacement for boinctasks and teamviewer. It greatly reduces the time needed to look after multiple machines and multiple instances on each.

I'll be looking for guinea-pigs in the not-too-distant future :P
