Well I won't be retiring 48 threads on Dec 10 it'll be 72! I scored an ASUS Zenith Extreme MB on Amazon this morning so doing a 2nd 2990WX build. :dance: Parts should be here Friday. So the 3 dual Xeon X5675 machines will be moving on. The 2990WX produces more credits than all 3 of them combined.

BTW, if you have to or want to switch projects and you aren't trusted the best way is to either set WCG to ZERO resource or better is to set an individual machine to .01/.02 in your Boinc Client Preferences. That way it will only give you enough WU to match the number of threads the machine has. Onc...

Your graph is very surprising. My 1080Ti runs about 60% load with 1 WU and 100% loading with 2. As Alez says, be sure you have enough CPU reserved to service the GPU. I'll have a look but I'm certain there is no easy way to adjust clock speeds in Linux. Wish we could just run afterburner .... you can use --coolbits=12 and it will give you the ability to control the clock speed from the Nvidia xserver app. I haven't done it but that is how it done. Thanks Alez. As long as it is running Cuda I'm content for the moment. It calculates to 1.8M/day and I can live with that. If I get the fan speed up to 100% I should gain about 150MHz clock rate. Shoved the 1080Ti into the 2990WX. Looked at the Driver Manager (Mint 19) and it suggested Nvidia 390 so I selected that. It did its thing and said to restart which I did. Yes, the speed of the CPU can affect the results a GPU gets. As you mentioned the PCI lanes etc but it is more the processing speed. Most GPU projects also use the CPU. I hear it is difficult to get multiple GPUs that aren't identical to run in Linux. I can't speak from experience on this. If you can get it working where BOINC recognizes both cards then you can setup 2 BOINC instances with a instance controlling only a single card. Then you can have 2 config files ...

They run separate and independent. On one you enable your CPU project and on the other you enable GPU. If you attach to the same project, ie PG, then the project will see it as two different computers with both having the same name. I rarely run my GPUs but when I do, I setup a 2nd instance of BOINC. One runs the CPUs and the other for the GPUs. That way the BOINC scheduler doesn't have to actually try to think ... it isn't very good at that
