Seems the Ordroid U2 is approx twice as fast as the RK3188.
Any other data let me know and will add to the list.

Cheers for that Janos, results posted up.
Anyone running anything different or different projects ? Anyone tried it on a phone or tablet and like to share ?
Seems the U2 is the way to go although the droidbox has everything built in. Considering a wee farm on a lan switch. Need to figure how to remote them using Linux first though.

Samsung Note II
ARMv7 Processor rev 0 (v7l) @1600MHz
(4 processors)
Native Boinc
Project --------- Time/Unit/Hr---- - Credit ----------- Credit/Hr--------No of units run
Asteroids--------------20.58-----------240-----------------11.6----------------1
Skynet Pogs---------0.85---------------17------------------20------------------1
Have to say It's really hard work on a phone, only seems to crunch when screen is on therefore it can take forever to finish a unit. Also drains the battery faster.
Not sure I'm going to run much more on it.

Did Janos not post something about remoting into his U2 or Pi somewhere?Alez wrote: Seems the U2 is the way to go although the droidbox has everything built in. Considering a wee farm on a lan switch. Need to figure how to remote them using Linux first though.
The U2 farm on a switch sounds like the kind of direction I might go too; especially since Parallella seems to have stalled somewhat.
Keep us updated with any progress you make :)

data added to the list cheers
Interestingly seems the XU is better at Asteroids than the U2, but opposite way round on POGS.
Linux is faster than Android, again would have though Android was optimised Linux for Arm chips and would have had a slight edge.

Some updates for the Odroid U3
Project --------- Time/Unit/Hr---- - Credit ----------- Credit/Hr
Asteroids------------35.88-----------480----------------14.5 (Only ran 2 units)
Enigma-------------- 1.68-------------52----------------31.3
Milkyway-------------6.52------------160----------------24.6
Skynet Pogs---------5.77-------------164.8-------------28.6
PrimeGrid ----------3.99-------------120----------------30
Apart from Asteroids the rest are all averaged over 6 units.
Looks like the credit generated is slightly lower than the U2 but some of the run times and credits are different?

Simap apps run approx 2hrs 15 mins on my droids for approx 16 credits. Approx 7.11 credits/hr. Had a few errors but they were all timed out units when I got sent a bunch with a 6 hour deadline ? Normal deadline seems to be 6 days or so. Data added to our list.

GPUGrid credit posted up. Seems to be the same as Enigma for my droids making it the joint best paying project on Android. Waiting to get / complete some Collatz units

prime grid have disabled Android because of a problem.
I don't want to run Collatz as that's not going to help my credit imbalance any
#21 Re: Single board time / credit comparisons
I haven't had any since 7/3 but the server status does state that there are 900+ tasks ready to send. The apps are listed as cpu only units. Guess check your gpugrid preferences are set to allow cpu tasks.

Here's a comparison of my 6 Android systems.
Description of rig_____________________Cost of rig w/accessories__Avg credit per hour per core on POGS
Odroid U3 Quad Core Cortex-A9 1.7GHz_______$106______________16.12
R42 Quad Core RK3188 Cortex-A9 1.6GHz______$60_______________17.86
R42 Quad Core RK3188 Cortex-A9 1.6GHz______$60_______________17.93
R42 Quad Core RK3188 Cortex-A9 1.6GHz______$60_______________17.93
R42 Quad Core RK3188 Cortex-A9 1.6GHz______$60_______________19.96
M8 Quad Core S802 Cortex A9 2.0GHz_________$72_______________31.33
All rigs were running 4 tasks at a time.
The Odroid was expensive because of the Android eMMC, power supply and heat sink w/fan but it performs the worst.
The R42s are all Android TV boxes which came with power supply, HDMI cable, RCA cables and already loaded with Android. I did perform a fan mod on all of them and one had to have a heat sink added. One performs slightly better than the others. Not sure why.
The M8 is also an Android TV box and required the same fan mod for cooling.
If I experiment with any others, I'll probably get an Android TV box with a RK3288 quad-core Cortex-A17 1.8 Ghz chip. They're costing around $90 (US) currently.

#27 Re: Single board time / credit comparisons
The RK3188 that performs the best is one of the good ones from the center of the platlet and will overclock to 1.8GHz as that was what they were originally sold as. The 1.6GHz is for one core only. If you look at them with cpuz you will see that they downclock as each core comes on line and I'll bet the best one stays one downclock above the others.
6 of my droids are RK3188's and they are more cost effective than my 4 ordroid u2's but the U's are far, far less prone to locking up or loosing the network connection.

#28 Re: Single board time / credit comparisons
I think this has been covered, but I'll ask anyway. Is there a ROM you can flash the RK3188 with that will prevent it from downclocking?
#29 Re: Single board time / credit comparisons
No. Downclocking is hardwired into the very nature of the chips due to temp and voltage limitations.
You could search for a finless bob kernel to overclock ( which I did on all my RK3188's ) but it will not stop the downclock, though you might be able to keep them 1 clock higher. The main reason I did it was to make the units more efficient as it removed all the bloatware normally installed.
The discussion you refer to is here http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/view ... 136&t=2020

Not a detailed credit comparison, but these quad core android boxes are crunching 27K enigma/day . 9 systems, each with 4 cores drawing maybe 10 watts each, 90 watts total. Just an example of low power crunching...

Raspberry Pi2, quad-core Cortex-A7@1000MHz, with augmented library support:
Considering it's a quad, you can multiply the Credit/Core/Hr with 4 to get the total Credit/Hr
Project | Time/Unit/Hr | Credit | Credit/Core/Hr |
---|---|---|---|
Collatz | 7.0 | 77 | 11 |
Enigma | 5.0 | 50 | 10 |
FIND | 0.1 | 1 | 10 |
