Can I use an adapter to connect a VGA monitor into a DVI input on a graphics card, or do I need to upgrade to a digital monitor?
My lovely new machine (Thanks Mike!) doesn't have a 15 pin input for my rather elderly backup monitor
As I plann to use this computer for stuff other than Boinc (flatm8s emails etc) I could be doing with seeing whats going on lol
I wish I knew more about computers

If it's a modern graphics card, the DVI port also supports Analogue Video. A cheap DVI-VGA adaptor will have the pictures on your screen. I use one for my 2nd monitor.

Adapter arrived this morning, so I managed to get things up and running.
1st GPUgrid task crunching away, with a expected runtime of 2.5 hours..... Think it might take a but longer, and already have another 3 qued, with a 4 day deadline :s
btw, bought the adapter off ebay, £1.49 free p&p, posted 1st class. Ordered Sunday night, arrived this morning :)
Are these good prices for graphics cards?

Assuming you are looking at the cards for GPU Boinc, which means the 260 and 280, the 260 is about £15 pound cheaper than Ebuyer and the 280 is the same. So both in the right ballpark for average to OK prices. Other suppliers may vary, but I use Ebuyer.
