Not sure you want to slow them down much. Many of the ASICs will automatically lower their hash rates if they get too warm. Don't know about the new r-boxes. What size and model fan is it? Maybe you could find a quieter fan? I bought a couople 120mm 110CFM fans for my R3. Old fans were probably 50+db and new less than 30db

Cheers bud, it looks likely that i cannot slow them down, there only doing roughly 30db but when your used to near silence from the pc then you get this racket :(.

The fans are some noisy beggers and are 60mm so i am going to raid amazon for 2 x silent pwm jobs but that push more air but are only 17db, i can handle that, so i will be taking the box apart soon to replace them, you would think that they would supply better ones!!!

Right just took box apart and they are hongfld fans???? never heard of them, and are 7cm (70mm) fans and are 1.5cm (15mm) deep, 3pin so no pwm and must just run at 100% constant, just for reference in case anyone else wants to remove and replace with quieter ones.

Search out the exact model number of the current fans so you know what the CFM the replacements need to be.

Current ones are 22cfm and 38db, loud, replacements are 28cfm and 28db, quiet room at bedtime is approx 30db so lower noise and better cooling, result.
