Is it common to have so many over lapping challenges? What are we going to crunch? I hate dividing our forces. :pirate:

Non-Anguillan Pirate input welcome also. :brave: :usa2:

No it's not that common as most teams will respect a challenge that is already posted up. When it occurs it is usually the same few teams that do it. Especially as one of the teams that keeps doing it usually ends up last as they post challenges but don't compete or they are a one man band. Bloody annoying is how I would describe it. At the very least rude and inconsiderate.

As for what to crunch, well there's only 4 of us that constantly switch projects to do comps. I will stick with WCG just now as there is 2 challenges coming up on that. Will try the Edges challenge. Not sure about Rosetta as that project pi$$ed me off royally in the past and generally I don't bother with it. Will consider a bit closer to time.

A beast of a project when it comes to setting up and maintaining an account. Can't you create an account through the BAM Account manager (provided you use that)?

I have an account, but I've disconnected all my systems from it. I remote desktop to a couple systems and admin the others from there.

On the closest system do add project in Boinc manager.
enter URL http://www.distributeddatamining.org/Di ... DataMining
and create new account.
After go to dDM site, log in and join team.
The web site is a nightmare. And I deleted your multiple posts, think the site just clitched.

I am still trying to figure out how to log into the Anguillan pirate account as its a Boinc wide team but asking the site to reset the password as you would usually do doesn't work. Wonder if Nico has it disabled and will only do it by request ?

In BOINC Manager, it doesn't give you an option to create an account. You can only enter email and password for existing accounts.

Boinc manager - Tools - Add Project. next
Enter URL http://www.distributeddatamining.org/Di ... DataMining next
then you should have the option to create a new account

edit : Just did it and it says project not accepting new accounts :? but on the bright side I may have solved my Anguillan Pirates account problem. :)

Sorry I can't help with DDM. I'm going to hit the GPUGrid challenge though, but finish all WU before Milkyway and hit it hard.

skipping GPUGrid but will be on Milkyway. I to have a sick 7970 to attend to but figure the mother in law will get in the way of that tomorrow so unfortunately guess that card will be unavailable. EDGeS will be the next CPU for me, unless UBT posts something tasty

Can it be? Nothing but a Seti challenge going on? Might jump in for a bit. We're currently 8th and I think we can take UBT. 8) Well we could if everyone jumped in! :D

Ok I'll bite the bullet, my tongue and some other stuff and waste some of my 7970's potential by sticking 2 of them on Seti for a limited time. Jeez, pirate peer pressure, thought that was my job :D
Edges comp for me next. Think I'll also move the pirate tours to a sub forum of this one to clean it up a bit.

Those GPUs are like race horses. You can't just run a derby and shut them down. After Milkyway, Seti is a nice walk for them to cool down.

I actually think mt GPU's are more like my show jumping horses ... always broken and in need of attention  Seti is a misuse of a GPU but as I said I will bite my tongue and crunch if the Boinc scheduler will play ball

Well I would but I'm trying to finish some PrimeGrid work, and it's too cold here to crunch seti. I need some gpu heat :D
