zadig shows the ants and rockminers as CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller and uses driver Win USB (v6.1.7600..)?

Do you know where to find the stderr.txt file in the slots folder? That gives the log messages about the current WU. Does it show anything pointing to problem?

If the last line in the cc_config.xml looks like this...

change it to this...

Are the devices all connected the same way they were before? Same ports, etc?

Rob I am confused as to what all you are using , the first cc_config you posted is a monster and not needed.

Post me the contents of your cc_config file located in ProgramData/Boinc and post the contents of the app_config in ProgramData/Boinc/Projects/www.bitcoinutopia.net_bitcoinutopia

which version of boinc are you running ? and post me the link to your computer on BU so I can check the stderr for errors

edit; it's ok, got your boinc version and computers. No units reported yet for me to check.

I've connected remote and his cc_config.xml is fine. It's nice and small now. In stdout, it just says no tasks available. I think that can still mean boinc client doesn't recognize the existence of the ASICs. Drivers look good though, I stumped. On;y think I can think of is shutdown boinc client, rename boinc folder to boinc_old and re-install boinc.

Sometimes there's a bad character in the file that doesn't even display in the editor or even odd end of line delimters. I know this will be a PITA, but rename cc_config.xml to something else and use notepad to type out a brand new one, save and start boinc.

After you have made a brand new cc_config.xml in the boinc folder, rename the app_config.xml to oldapp_config.xml as other than overclocking it's not needed. Let's get it working first then bother about that. Next , as it's a new install of boinc manager check tools > computer management > processor usage and ensure whilst computer is in use is checked and use GPU is checked. Shutdown Boinc and restart. Check the output in advanced > event log and post it up here. If BU starts working then check which slot it is running in , go to that slot and check the output of the Stderr.txt. Failing that uplug all the miners, open ziadag and plug each one in individually and check that they are recognised. For the R-boxes, pull the power and leave for 10 secs or so before replugging. Sometimes just pulling the usb out is not enough to reset them. If you are having issues with any of this not being clear them pm your phone number and I can give you a call and see if we can figure it out.

Everything one the web about that message indicates it either can't read the file or parse it properly.
I'll take another look and see if I can eliminate possibility of file format issue. pm the code.

I'm getting peed off with me never mind you lot.

Ok scole has boinc now recognising BU and its not saying start tags missing BUT I have 3 rboxes sat doing NOTHING, I have a 110ghs one and 2 35ghs ones, zadig has been done windows says that their there but there doing sod all, i have changed ports the lot, what can i do now.

Sorry about all this, it was perfect yesterday before i messed it all up and i didn't even do much it all just worked.

Is a unit running ? if so highlight it, select properties, look what slot it is. Go to /ProgramData/Boinc/slots/ the slot open the stderr.txt file, copy the contents and paste it here.
If it's not running then power down the boxes and power only one back up and see what happens.
You do have use GPU selected in computer preferences ?

In case it might help anyone else in the future, the reason BOINC wouldn't download BU WUs was because it was failing to load the cc_config.xml file and therefore not loading the config telling it there were miners. The only feedback BOINC was giving was a message in the BOINC Manager notices that said "Missing start tag in cc_config.xml". There were several references on the web about that message, but it's generic and only means BOINC didn't like something about the cc_config.xml file. After double and triple checking the file in notepad, everything appeared to look ok. But I've seen situations before where there was some odd or bad character in the file, perhaps line delimiters, encoding, NULL character or something that caused a problem. Always worth building a new file from scratch. No copy and paste from the original file or you copy the problem. Anyway, building a new cc_config.xml file from scatch is what cleared it up. Glad its working now Rob!

Ok, so here's what's happening. Somehow the cc_config.xml file is getting saved/converted to a UTF-8 encoded file. It needs to be ANSI. The fix is easy.
-Open the file using Notepad
-From File menu select Save As
-Make sure you are still in the BOINC folder
-Change the Encoding from UTF-8 to ANSI. (Encoding option next to Save button)
-Save the file
-Restart BOINC Client

Any idea what is changing it?

You had better hope the missus never reads that !!!!

If you view or change the cc_config always open with notepad ( highlight, right click, open with )
If you simply doubleclick then windows will open it with explorer and that may screw it up. Are you using a third party editor ?

Wasn't changing anything i was @ work, and its Microsoft's XML Notepad i would use if i did.

Apparently she pulled the wrong plug out of the socket to plug the steamer in and it was in the middle of a update to SP1 and when it came back on it froze, so i did a restore when i got in but the only 1 it had was before Steve sorted the file out, so back it went, i've sorted it now as Ste told me how to do it, but it is again updating, it's on 166 of 190 atm 1.2gb worth and thats after SP1, going to stop the updates after it's done and i will do them if i need them in future, have stopped crunching for now as well as its going dead slow because its installing updates, as soon as its done i will resume.

Use the ASCII NOTEPAD. You can't use an xml editor as they insert code that BOINC cant read. The files cc_config and app_config ( despite their name ) are not XML files they are renamed ascii files. Why they called them .xml ? fook knows , but they are not xml. If you edit them with anything other than a plain ascii editor you will break them and be back to square one.

No it's just the way mining works. You are using all your ants and the r boxes on 1 unit. It all depends on picking up a share on the mining pool. Ideally you want your r-boxes mining first then the ants picking up after that. Sometimes the R boxes will complete your unit share before the ants pick up any work.
To solve this slight issue i run my boxes split across 4 computers and crunching 1 unit per box.

I have two blades of a Rockminer R3 on one raspberry pi and two blades on another. Stability of the R3 blades stinks. They lock up at least once a day, often more. Rebooting the raspberry pi seems to help. I'm not a linux tech. What's the best way to setup a job to reboot it every 6 or 12 hours?

Well I have reloaded the project and i'ts working, and done all the cc_config and app_config, all by myself may I add

BUT

, it's running weird as fcuk it started, well it ran 8 units simultaneously shot through 3 of them and then the other 5 proper slow like, any ideas gentlemen?

It kept doing project backoff last night for hours so i left it 'till this AM, C-cgminer-rbox_win32_00005.zip says its downloading but project backoff and its seems stuck @ 99.52% and i'm getting no more wu's plus the ones i have are incomplete?????

Is something amiss I do not know about?

What does your app_config file look like and what version are you running?

Add this line to the app_config...
<project_max_concurrent>1</project_max_concurrent>

Does the app_config.xml begin with app_config> or <app_config>? If it doesn't have the <, that's a problem.

Have you restarted BOINC since adding the <project_max_concurrent> option? Some of the new options require a restart to load.

Does the stdoutdae.txt log file show any messages indicting it failed to load the BU app_config.xml or does it show it loaded it?
