Program data>boinc>projects>www.boicoinutopia.net_bitcoinutopia what goes in here??? app_config.xml

program data>boinc what goes in here??? cc_config.xml

app_config.xml looks ok as long it doesn't have the extra app_config> in it.

Make your cc_config.xml look like this...

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

It will use all 3 ASICs automatically. You don't need any special config for that. As far as I know you only need coproc count set to 1. Not sure what 3 would do.

Hi Rob. I've got 3 ants scurrying away.
How are you getting on with yours? I'll need to have a look at the stats and establish the threat level from you!

I'd love to tell you but I haven't a clue.
Have you left a core free for Bitcoin/the ants to use?
I was trying to 'share' a core between bitcoin/ants and my gpu - it looked like it was ok but since I've left one free my numbers seem to have gone up.

There you go, the cpu is sleeping :D better start flogging it :P

Though seriously, do you have a powered hub ?, does it produce enough power ? Do you have a fan on the ants? are they running too hot ? Bitcoin works only on the internet, is your connection slow compared to silvers ? Are all 3 of your ant's working ? Is one of them throwing hardware errors or has many rejected shares. Check the stderr rpt in the project slot or under tasks on the project page.

Did someone unload dodgy stock on you :lol:

Well 75% of them are from oor willy!!!

Nope no errors, yep all working no powered hub all plugged in to the pc all flashing little green lights in a random order, am on Virgin 100mb so it isne slow, no fans on them there a bit hot but you can touch them, oh aye the cpu is staying idle n all, cant be sat near it when there crunching as the rad chucks some serious heat out, never seen the cpu temperature go over 51c :) but it still is not crunching.

no comment on the source :shock:

Are you both running the same app and campaign ? Could also be down to luck. Me and Scole have very similar capacities at the moment in GH/s but some days have wildly different outputs, though it does seem to average out over a few days when we can both keep our wee farms chugging along.
There doesn't seem to be an obvious reason, give it a couple of days and see where you are averaging out .

First, there seem to have been some extra payout reported on the BU forum this week. It's random who got it and they're working to correct it. Paul may have gotten a few more extra. I don't see anything wrong with your config either. Your WU logs show that your miners are crunching over 6 Gh/s. I checked 40 WUs from you and Paul. Your times are less than Pauls, but only by about 10%, not as much as expected. One thing to help for now is getting the oveclocking working. Have you restarted BOINC since getting the app_config.xml set correctly. If not, shut down the client and restart so it will pick up the cmdline with the freq setting. Should give another 1.5 Gh/s per miner or 30% throughput.

Just a reminder there's a Collatz challenge starting tomorrow and your 7990 would sure make a contribution. :thumbright: Here's the forum link...http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/view ... 148&t=2387

If you overclock the ant's make sure they are cooled or they will overheat...... they do get hot enough to burn fingers etc.
All the new water cooling is just begging to be let off the leash and stretch it's legs, collatz hint, hint :D

I may not be shy about dropping a few hints or reminders about a challenge or putting a call out for more crunchers on them, but when a GPU is sucking down over 300 watts of power, there are costs to consider. Last time my wife saw our electric bill, she asked "Why is this going up? Is there something wrong with the AC?". I quickly muttered, "Tell Jack to turn his TV and Xbox off when he leaves his room". There will be no badgering from me about this. We finally lured Rob into running BU. Our time would be better spent urging him to upgrade to an r-box. :lol:

Never, ever let your wife see the 'lecky bill. Usually you will save some money by switching to online billing, so do it. If despite this she sees it you must blame the Ukrainian civil war, or some other local issue.

Your cc_config entries are already there. Check your computing preferences and make sure it will run while pc in use, try bumping up min work buffer, suspend any other projects to see if that will trigger a WU download.

Do you know where to find the stderr.txt file in the slots folder? That gives the log messages about the current WU. Does it show anything pointing to problem?

:lol: am losing the will to live.

I have started all from the beginning and now i am faced with this message >
Notice from BOINC
Missing start tag in cc_config.xml
16/10/2014 12:15:32 · more...

I have this as app_config

<app_config>
<app>
<name>C-cgminer</name>
<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app_version>
<plan_class>asic</plan_class>
<app_name>C-cgminer</app_name>
<cmdline>--anu-freq 250</cmdline>
</app_version>
</app_config>

I only have the ants in at the moment.

And this is my cc_config >

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config

Why won't it work???????

If the last line in the cc_config.xml looks like this...
</cc_config

change it to this...
</cc_config>

Are the devices all connected the same way they were before? Same ports, etc?

The whole shebang has been re done, i can't remember where they were before.

cc_config is this now

<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

the greater than was missing, but it still says
Notice from BOINC
Missing start tag in cc_config.xml

I don't suppose you wanna jump on again and look at my cc and app for me, when you have the time pretty please :)

Rob I am confused as to what all you are using , the first cc_config you posted is a monster and not needed.

Post me the contents of your cc_config file located in ProgramData/Boinc and post the contents of the app_config in ProgramData/Boinc/Projects/www.bitcoinutopia.net_bitcoinutopia

which version of boinc are you running ? and post me the link to your computer on BU so I can check the stderr for errors

edit; it's ok, got your boinc version and computers. No units reported yet for me to check.

I've connected remote and his cc_config.xml is fine. It's nice and small now. In stdout, it just says no tasks available. I think that can still mean boinc client doesn't recognize the existence of the ASICs. Drivers look good though, I stumped. On;y think I can think of is shutdown boinc client, rename boinc folder to boinc_old and re-install boinc.

Sometimes there's a bad character in the file that doesn't even display in the editor or even odd end of line delimters. I know this will be a PITA, but rename cc_config.xml to something else and use notepad to type out a brand new one, save and start boinc.

After you have made a brand new cc_config.xml in the boinc folder, rename the app_config.xml to oldapp_config.xml as other than overclocking it's not needed. Let's get it working first then bother about that. Next , as it's a new install of boinc manager check tools > computer management > processor usage and ensure whilst computer is in use is checked and use GPU is checked. Shutdown Boinc and restart. Check the output in advanced > event log and post it up here. If BU starts working then check which slot it is running in , go to that slot and check the output of the Stderr.txt. Failing that uplug all the miners, open ziadag and plug each one in individually and check that they are recognised. For the R-boxes, pull the power and leave for 10 secs or so before replugging. Sometimes just pulling the usb out is not enough to reset them. If you are having issues with any of this not being clear them pm your phone number and I can give you a call and see if we can figure it out.

Everything one the web about that message indicates it either can't read the file or parse it properly.
I'll take another look and see if I can eliminate possibility of file format issue. pm the code.

Use this as your app_config. Allows campaigns 3,4 and 6

<app_config>
<app>
<name>C-cgminer-rbox</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>C-cgminer-rbox</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
</app_version>
<app>
<name>cgminer-rbox_4</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>cgminer-rbox_4</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
</app_version>
<app>
<name>cgminer-rbox_6</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>cgminer-rbox_6</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
</app_version>
</app_config>

with this cc_config

<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

If you want to run 1 app per R box then let me know how many boxes ( 2 I think ) and I post another set to allow that. In fact for 2 boxes

<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>2</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

<app_config>
<app>
<name>C-cgminer-rbox</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>C-cgminer-rbox</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
<cmdline>--usb :1</cmdline>
</app_version>
<app>
<name>cgminer-rbox_4</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>cgminer-rbox_4</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
<cmdline>--usb :1</cmdline>
</app_version>
<app>
<name>cgminer-rbox_6</name>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>cgminer-rbox_6</app_name>
<plan_class>miner_asic</plan_class>
<cmdline>--usb :1</cmdline>
</app_version>
</app_config>

Is a unit running ? if so highlight it, select properties, look what slot it is. Go to /ProgramData/Boinc/slots/ the slot open the stderr.txt file, copy the contents and paste it here.
If it's not running then power down the boxes and power only one back up and see what happens.
You do have use GPU selected in computer preferences ?
