Welcome to a new sub-form to discuss the advent of ASIC and FPGA optimised BOINC computing.

ASIC and FPGA systems have changed the face of BOINC. Just as GPU's once did with their massive jump in performance and later single board computers producing traditional CPU outputs at a fraction of the power consumption.

ASIC systems offer hardware optimised functions which enable certain algorithms to operate vastly quicker than software implementations.

For some applications these hardware devices can operate at incredible levels.
