Running time on Radeon HD 6670, FM2 and AM1 APUs: forever..

Anybody brought a GPU72 WU to a good end using Radeon hardware under Linux?

Correction gtx1660ti : 7.5mins - the app loads all WU on the first GPU, the second gets none.

Sorry no @Dirk Broer , must admit I haven't had much luck with any project on Radeon / Linux though

It's hard-coded to go to device 0, it seems

That's a pity as most of my machines are twin GPU.

Thanks for the info - saved me a few hours trying to screw around to get it working on multi-instance

For what's it worth: My A10-5700 system with three HD6670's groaned for more than 10 hours on these WUs -doing four together- only to have me aborting them due to the fact that they were showing 100% completed for nine of those hours. Turns out that they needed only another two hours to complete -all four of them. But that just doesn't pay at 1500 credits per WU.
It might be Radeon-only, as the Radeon cards seem to ignore the --device 0 setting. Most likely a Windows/CUDA expert that wrote the code and thought all was needed was a quick re-compile to have it working on the other platforms (e.g Linux/OpenCL) as well....not quite!

Yeah the nvidia app also spends most of its time at 100% complete. ISTR that Srbase on CPU was also unsure of which day it would complete in.

Otherwise I am mightily impressed with the cuda app and am planning to cause a few shocks in L1 marathon over the next 12 - 24 hours (depending which other teams can get this running)

What a pain but I finally got it running on my Mint 19.1 (Ubuntu 18.04) systems.

Yeah? The cuda libraries weren't found on Ubuntu 18.10

I think you'd best download the (latest?) nvidia proprietary Linux drivers for your GPU

I had the 435 driver installed but it didn't work. There may have been an easier way but I had to revert to the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau driver, completely remove the nvidia driver, log out of the GUI, SSH into a command prompt, stop the X server, install the CUDA 10.1 tool kit without the 4.18 driver, then reinstall the 435 driver. Rebooting between each uninstall/remove/install step.

ElementaryOS FTW

Gave up on other distro's incl. Mint recently (19.1 to 19.2 to 19.3, kernel updates and fiddling for my Wifi cards, chuffing about with Mesa for the AMD then bang). Latest ElementaryOS 20 mins from start of install to BOINC running on AMD RX cards and out of the box working AX200 Wifi on vanilla Kernel 5.3. Winner.

I've let my i7-3770 run dry while on Ubuntu 18.04 to be able to upgrade it to either Ubuntu 19.10 or 20.04 Beta. Then trying to get that blasted nVidia Cuda 10.1 toolkit working.
If all runs well: rip out the motherboard/CPU combo (->goes to my son, promised ages ago) and replace the whole shebang with an Asrock B450 Pro4 board and a Ryzen 5 six-core,
plus that GT 1030 card I mentioned earlier, and keep waiting for that lottery ticket to be able to fit in that R9 3950 sixteen-core and the full 128GB of RAM needed to be able to get 4GB for each thread. Might want to fit in a more potent GeForce card too, it the lottery ticket holds enough...

Let's hope that the feeling comes true then: $159 after taxes might buy you so much that you can own your own power company. Computing comes cheap thereafter....

Jock never replied so no.

As it happens, I sold all six of my AMD rx570/rx580 gpu cards yesterday
