1 million + projects
#101 Re: 1 million + projects
If you are using the French signature and it craps out, then turn off the Acoustics badges. Mine worked until I hit the Octopus (10M) and then my signature started crashing. After turning off the Acoustics badges then it started working again.

#102 Re: 1 million + projects
Funny, I was going to DM you as when I tried to download you sig for the weekly ( ish )update of the cached version, your sig kept crashing when I tried to download it from Seb's sig site. Guess that explains it.

Well done. Seems the mega cores on a threadripper are tearing through those cpu projects.

nice one

I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

#111 Re: 1 million + projects
If you are desperate for a new 1M project then HERE is a new one. Probably the lowest paying CPU project in all of BOINCdom.

I am genuinely baffled as to why a project would choose to pay so low. Surely they understand that a significant percentage of crunchers come from a 'competitive' background and that, in many cases, it matters a lot to them e.g. cross-project stats or personal goals like this thread.
It costs a project nothing to 'pay' higher credits, right? Or maybe it does ??
I can understand peer-pressure from other projects would bring scorn if a project paid very high amounts but I don't understand why they'd choose to pay very low amounts

#114 Re: 1 million + projects
Well ODLK pays poorly but IIRC I can do around 250k/day on it. PADLS I could get maybe 130k. A 2990WX @3.3G makes around 32k/day. The WU take that machine around 2.75 hours/WU.
This is a new project and they are still working on getting stuff going but they are releasing stats. The woman who heads up ODLK and ODLK1 is the guys mentor. I'm hoping he increases the credits before I do get desperate and go for another 1M project.
Some of the admins can't see beyond their project and think people will run it because the admin team is excited about the "science" and they think it is the greatest experiment that exists. They don't understand that folks like me won't support the project because the reward for some of us are the credits.
It cost them nothing to award credits. What it does cost them are people (like me) who won't bother helping them. At some point I will take it to 1M but that will be my lifetime limit

I've forgotten my password & the usual I Forgot my Password link doesn't seem to work. Probably my best bet is to PM the project admin.

I must get in touch with the Gerasim admins.
WUProp might take some time!

I just got a new one: PRIVATE GFN SERVER.
It has been around for years but just started exporting stats
And NO, I don't know the invite code.

Well I guessed PrimeGrid & that worked.

Anyhoo I've set up a TSBT team for it.

I got a new one: Tomas Brada Experimental Grid aka Pseudo-Associative DLS Project
From a couple of posts on their forums it appears it may be ending soon. It is associated with ODLK and ODLK1.

And just a mere five days later MLC passed the magic boundary, as 38th 1 million + project.
The MLC subproject Machine Learning Dataset Generator also became my 58th 1 million + subproject this way.

That is outstanding since they are not too generous with the credits. I am still below 1/2 million. Which tasks are you running?Dirk Broer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 6:21 pm I am on a roll now: Private GFN Server just became my 39th project with 1 million+ credits.

Congratulations to the millionaires. I have only 15 subprojects, etc, that reached the million mark. Two are in the billion area.

According to free-dc I've taken 47 projects to 1 million.
This seems to be a TSBT best.
Not that it's a competition or anything.
