And they're off
I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

I don't know anything about these Crunchathlons; do they count for anything bigger that TSBT is competing on? If not, I think I'll bunker up to release on Monday so that it gets Ramjet and Elves. What is everyone else planning to do?

The Crunchathlon doesn't mean anything other than it is another of CRUNCHERS SANS FRONTIERES frigging meaninfless monthly challenges. IMHO.
You'd be better to bunker for the TSBT challenge.
Personally I'm running open and have no plans to bunker.

If you guys are going do what you should and bunker for your challenge then I'm switching to SUSA on this one.

I'll take a look at deadline dates in my big download & decide tomorrow. One slight snag is that we leave on Sunday whereas I assumed it would be Monday. I'll have to set up a Wine system with BoincTasks and Teamviewer as my Windows system keeps shutting itself down

Thanks but it is an Unactivated Copy and seems to resist all attempts to make itself useful

Thanks guys. To explain, Pete. I ended up installing from a Windows 10 DVD which I found. I think it came with a machine I bought new a few years back.
I totally forgot that even a legit DVD copy is basically ransomware unless you also have the activation key
Is windowsloader for Win7 only?

The true winloader was written by DAZ and only works on Win7. He DID NOT write one for Win 10. There are some out there that supposedly are based on DAZ's work but they would be use at your own risk.

Okay thanks. I'll load Win7 instead at some point

My 2 new machines require Win10 so they are now Linux only. Since I operate remotely 6 months of the year I can not have Win10 since you can't stop updates. On the last major update it caused many machines using the Intel Wifi/Bluetooth module to hang up. If that happens while I'm remote then I'd be screwed.

I won't be doing any actual crunching on the Windows machine though - it is an old laptop to be used solely for boinctasks

And this is why I will never have a machine that will pass win 7 onto the virus that is 10. Also win 7 activation keys on ebay are only a couple of quid.

Good effort guys.
I could drop a bunker early if it made the difference between 3rd and 4th but I'd prefer to keep it for the Elves challenge I think

Drop it for the elves for sure. We want to make a good start to our own challenge.
