Getting WCG back in the Top 100

Unread post by Megacruncher » Sun Oct 29, 2017 11:11 pm

Excellent, so following the recent blast on Rosetta we have reached the happy situation where almost all of our active project teams are very safely in the top 100 and don't need much looking after at all.
The exception of course in World Community Grid which is currently in 154th place.
This is a lot better than the beginning of the year but well short of the 99th which we reached once in December 2008.
At present we are 54 places & 74.5Million credits adrift of 100th. Which is a lot but not an impossible deficit.
Already in the last week our output has picked up considerably from 20-40K per day to 60-80K per day.
Are you up for it people?
It'll be a long hard slog but we have a lot of cores at our disposal & a few WCG comps coming up to make the slog more enjoyable.

I'm in.
I'm letting my machines finish what they're working on with WCG in the background ready to be on it 100% once the other projects finish.

Thanks Andrew.
95K for WCG today. That or better will get us up the table.

WOW! 159K yesterday :o
Most of it from Andrew!!!
Impressive! 8-)
At this rate we could soon be grabbing back 153rd from IBM Northern California who roared past us a couple of weeks past but have since slowed down.

Great stuff, it'll be good to have you back.
As it is we just recaptured 153rd!
The deficit, cf 100th, stands at 53 places (-1) and 74.1 M credits (-0.4).
All useful movement in the right direction. :-)

Some very impressive daily numbers - 200K+ for two successive days. :o :-)
Largely due to Andrew who is storming up the team ranks and at this rate will, from way behind, have overtaken me within a year or so. Which is fine.
More team gains are likely within a couple of weeks.

A year? *snigger*

:D
Let’s be realistic for a moment, why don't we? I won't be stealing any crowns from you tomorrow or next year or 5 years.

It'll be interesting to see how things go when the competition starts and we get more people focusing on the project.

My crown has already gone! :o
But that's a good thing as it's because Scole & Bryan are back with us, pushing me into 3rd & rather impressively getting our daily total past 300K.
10 days til the SETI.Germany competition so hopefully this is just the warm up for it.

I can't guarantee anything. I was planning on just moving over for 3 days because I need that to reach a 20 year badge on SCC. :)

Hi Bryan,
Your most fleeting of visits makes a big difference. Do what you will but linger with us as long as you can.
Cheers,
Willie

Woo Hoo! Up another place, grabbing 152nd from Israel!
Which is nice & further narrows the deficit to a still colossal, but significantly less so than it was, 52 places (-2) & 71.6M credits (-2.9).
Well done everybody.
