Isn't it boring when you are running off with it though. Maybe it can be made a little more interesting

Hmmm - thought you'd been a bit quiet, Bryan. How much have you got bunkered then?
No

24hrs in and the team who actually called the Challenge have only 6 validated WU. Isn't that a bit unusual ?

I'm sure you don't mean me but I'll confess anyhow ... I thought I'd grab a bunch of WU in case they ran out. Unfortunately I forgot to stop WCG also downloading WU. It gave me lots of urgent WU which are hogging my threads even though Acoustics has 10x the priority of WCG. You know me ... I'd hate to abort them

I am guessing that the huge bunkers you guys dropped have maybe mostly validated now? They would have been contributing handsomely even after the initial drops.

I had a wee bunker drop https://boincstats.com/en/stats/175/use ... B%5D=21251 so I am hopeful that it'll be enough to get me 6th place before the end of the Challenge. Depends if the other guys have anything left in the tank I guess (or are remotely bothered ). Didn't want to leave it any longer as I now have 4500 WU in pending

Thanks for that Pete - it did actually happen a few days back; hopefully, I'll be able to support the other guys as a lot of admin work is, by nature, largely unseen.
I've never run a real Marathon (detested running all my life except when there was a soccer ball to chase), but reckon you can only ever beat the guy who is immediately in front of you. A team marathon is no different, no point me looking at what Mumps can do - the guy in front of me is the only one who mattersCruncher Pete wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:06 am creeping up the ladder and fighting those russcies and yanks

Mumps is fortunate enough to work for a company that allows him to host all the spare equipment he can scrounge up and run it at their offices. They even allow him to use old company equipment for a bit after it's been swapped out.
Use those extra clients to load up on enough WU to last until the end of the challenge.

Very fortunate pal, indeed.
#86 Re: 13/2 - 20/2 Acoustic@Home challenge
He's toast, just keep the pedal down!
Mumps works for a database company that also rents out server space. They have systems that range from older servers to the latest and greatest. As they retire equipment, and they still have the same type of server still active on-line, then they keep some of them as spares. They keep some of the spares powered up and operating in case they have a failure on one of the on-line systems they know the replacement is good. Due to licensing stuff (Microsoft/Hyper V, etc) you can't just throw in a new server ... it is easier and cheaper just to stick in the same type machine. So Mumps gets to keep those machines running and "stress" testing them
