Off one rig, straight back out to another in a mad rush. Moving systems over remotely tonight. Is the project a quorum of two so I can at least build some pendings ?

I actually signed up for this one, so I suppose I have have to produce a token amount before switching to TSBT. No bunker saved up as I'm trying to finish off another project.scole of TSBT wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2017 11:20 am @Tejas , you joining us for this one? I hope you're saving up!

If you signed your team up by all means run it with your team. We won't disable your account
#16 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
21 hours to go and up to 600 pendings so far, best I can do.
Tejas I made your account a full member of TSBT so that you can see everything on the website that other team members can see. Don't think that that makes you beholding to us. You crunch whatever you wish and will always be welcome to join us when it suits you.
From the project admin -
On September 28, 2017, the first challenge in Acoustics@home will be started. During this challenge, we will deal with the quite large scenario no. 906, which contains about 1 million workunits. Recently only 10 % of these workuntis were already calculated.

I can't get it to run on my Xeon without every WU erroring out after 1 sec but I'll try & persuade the rest of the croft to give it a whirl.

It's not a computation error. The project is declaring them Abandoned for some reason. Don't know what it is but it looks like maybe that host doesn't have SP1 installed. Some projects apps require that but I figure it would either not download WU or you'd get computation errors if that were the case.Megacruncher wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 12:10 amI can't get it to run on my Xeon without every WU erroring out after 1 sec but I'll try & persuade the rest of the croft to give it a whirl.
Looking at the top computers on the project, Windows appears to be the preferred OS for this project and I didn't see any computer inside the top 140 or so running Win 7 that didn't have SP1 installed. Could try installing it.

Tejas Nice moves on grabbing individual first place.
TSBT also currently sitting in first place
Tejas 1st
scole of TSBT 3rd
Alez 11th
Megacruncher TSBT 32nd
There's plenty of room in the posts for me to happily add more names. Every unit crunched adds points to the team !!

TSBT still leading the pack - although it's close and the Russians are gaining on us.
Great individual standings too -
scole 1st
Tejas 3rd
Alez 10th
I've moved up to 14th. I got the Xeon to run it eventually - Win 7 SP1 just would not install so I ended up giving another £99.99 to Microsoft for Windows 10. Still it's zinging along nicely now. And Cortana is friendly.

#35 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
Got home tonight, got my dead server up and running, updated linux on my main server and it promptly died. Awesome !!!. Server has now been rebuilt to lubuntu 17.04 but can't get it to act as a wifi hotspot just now, so server back and running but no wifi for the droids. That will be a job for tomorrow after finishing the pro kart rebuild for it's debut on Sunday.

The pendings do build up. Around 20% of what I've completed are pending.

Ready to go racing tomorrow I can assure you the Acoustics@home were very loud doing a burn out in the garage

Does it run better on Windoze or Linux.
I had a 1M project disappear off my stats and couldn't figure out which one it was. For some reason Acoustics is the culprit and when I checked the FreeDC stats I saw that Scole and Pete had big numbers. I didn't know this was going on.
As my machine roll off of Leiden (FB Sprint) I'll put them on it since I have to run it anyway.

It's about 12-14% faster on Win64 vs linux
#43 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
Hey Dirk, did you see me wave when I went by?
Why are you guys complaining about pendings ... only 16% of what I've turned in has validated. That really sucks!

Classic project with high rate of pendings challenge. There's 80 hours left in the challenge. To minimize pendings you need to load a full 80 hours work on each system now and hope your wingman completes his within that time.

Over half way thru the comp and TSBT are well out in front in a two horse race with Russia Team. :wav:
Surely there's no reason that the pending situation should favour the ruskies? The harder other teams try the more likely it is that they will validate our work? Or am I missing something?

#46 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
Most of your pendings are probably sitting in Scole's cache Actually, I checked quite a few of mine and there are a number of Ruskies that have a average turn around time of 4-6 days. I have bunches of finished WU where they are my wingman. The best ones I have are some of Scole's machines.
Things are getting better on my end, 21% of what I've turned in has validated ... that's progress

My Threadripper has landed.
Early indications are that it kicks the Xeons arse for much less outlay!
I'll put it onto Acoustic for a day or two. But we are so far ahead of the Russians that it shouldn't be necessary. It might just put me in with a chance of joining scole, McShane, Tejas & Alez in the top 10. Not that that matters!
