Does it run better on Windoze or Linux.
I had a 1M project disappear off my stats and couldn't figure out which one it was. For some reason Acoustics is the culprit and when I checked the FreeDC stats I saw that Scole and Pete had big numbers. I didn't know this was going on.
As my machine roll off of Leiden (FB Sprint) I'll put them on it since I have to run it anyway.

It's about 12-14% faster on Win64 vs linux

Hey Dirk, did you see me wave when I went by?
Why are you guys complaining about pendings ... only 16% of what I've turned in has validated. That really sucks!

Classic project with high rate of pendings challenge. There's 80 hours left in the challenge. To minimize pendings you need to load a full 80 hours work on each system now and hope your wingman completes his within that time.

Over half way thru the comp and TSBT are well out in front in a two horse race with Russia Team. :wav:
Surely there's no reason that the pending situation should favour the ruskies? The harder other teams try the more likely it is that they will validate our work? Or am I missing something?

Most of your pendings are probably sitting in Scole's cache Actually, I checked quite a few of mine and there are a number of Ruskies that have a average turn around time of 4-6 days. I have bunches of finished WU where they are my wingman. The best ones I have are some of Scole's machines.
Things are getting better on my end, 21% of what I've turned in has validated ... that's progress

My Threadripper has landed.
Early indications are that it kicks the Xeons arse for much less outlay!
I'll put it onto Acoustic for a day or two. But we are so far ahead of the Russians that it shouldn't be necessary. It might just put me in with a chance of joining scole, McShane, Tejas & Alez in the top 10. Not that that matters!

Excellent. Tell us how the temps run while crunching.

Thanks for the help Pete.
EDIT: I hope everyone who participates on WUProp remembers to attach all new (and old) systems to that project.

Not bad at all: 64 Celsius full load in a fairly quiet modestly befanned case. Or 58 if I leave the basement door ajar.scole of TSBT wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 12:43 am Excellent. Tell us how the temps run while crunching.
I'll probably get a 16 core one very soon.

26 hours to go, thanks for helping us out. Your input made the difference.McShane of AP wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 10:32 pm I'm out of here folks. With less than 7 hours to go I have 11218 In progress and 8135 in Pending. It is safe to switch off and take some money back from the Power Company. Have Fun, I'll be back.

18 hours left, no chance of us being caught. I've nearly 1500 pendings, think it's safe enough to coast across the line now.

I wasn't planning on doing this until after the challenge ended however the FB Sprint is going to be announced momentarily. I have to enable my network so I can pull work. Sorry Tejas!
Depending on the percentage that goes into pending the Russian in 4th position may get pushed a bit.

And of course after I opened up the network and dumped then 2 hours later they announce it is a GPU project ... ooops!
#60 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
I was thinking it would be PrimeGrid. Oh well.
#61 Re: 28/9 - 5/10 Ocean of fantasy - Acoustics@home
That was my expection -or- Enigma maybe. Since GPUGrid only allows Nvida GPUs and no CPUs I really didn't think they would ever pick it. That shows how much I know
Who knows, they might even pick Wep/Wanless with only Linux support. I guess if it is on the list it is fair game.

Emmm I didn't miss giving your contribution a shout out . .... but yes, for some reason you are not in the final stats. I've added you in as top 5. Do you know where you were ? 3rd I think but not sure.Alez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 2:24 am26 hours to go, thanks for helping us out. @Pete, if you change teams to one that is not registered it takes you out of the individual standings. The team you were crunching for doesn't lose credits you just don't show up in the individual stats anymore. If you had rejoined TSBT then on the next challenge update you would show up again with all your credits. If you had changed to a team that was registered your credits would have continued to show but the team would change.
