New Lanark - a very pretty place with a fascinating history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Lanark

Basically a large-scale social / industrial experiment which had its own currency, education and health systems well in advance of the national norm of the time. Might look a bit dodgy through modern eyes but revolutionary in its day
