Just got back from a week in Nags Head, NC USA. Surf central for the US mid-Atlantic area. It's getting crowded there due to greedy land owners and developers building huge 10-15 BR houses along the beach. The best part of the week was driving up the beach road each morning while listening to the Beach Boys channel on XM on the way to the Morning View Coffee House to get a perfect espresso drink made by authentic surfer girls. This is for the all surfer girls in Nags Head.

I've had my fill of The Beach Boys on XM this summer but here's one last song with Dennis Wilson on lead vocals. I can't help but turn up the volume when they play it. Everyone considers Brian Wilson and Mike Love the front guys for the band but Dennis Wilson was the only true beach boy who surfed and raced at the drag strip. From 1964...

Any ELO/Jeff Lynne fans? Jeff Lynne played in a banded called The Idle Race from 1966-1970. Heard this on XM today and thought worth sharing...

It’s September!
Autumn is here and we are all getting older, whether we like it or not.
So a good time to listen again to the Kurt Weill classic, September song as covered by Lou Reed.
Moral: You’re never too cool to die so live while you can! Lou did, albeit it ended up killing him.

I was only 12yrs old when this came out in 1969 but it became a firm favourite for me within a few years. Radical stuff at the time.

I think I've already posted this video in the past but I heard it on the radio today and while I was listening I thought these guys sound like the Sex Pistols. When I searched for a video I realized The Saints did not sound like the Sex Pistols. It's the other way around. The Sex Pistols were influenced by The Saints. So Pete, this is for you. An Aussie band that hugely influenced the Punk music scene...

Another Rock&Roll history lesson tonight. These guys were R&R pioneers. This song is more of an instrumental than vocal track. The vocals had great harmony though. The bass is classic early rock.
