#1 Update BOINC to 7.6.6 for bug fixes

Post by Alez »

There is a new version of the BOINC client which fixes the truncated stderr.txt file issue, because it was possible for BOINC finish to be called before a program has finished writing to the stderr.txt file. The fix is available in BOINC version 7.6.6 and should prevent the ~3% validation error rate both milkyway@home and Seti@home and other projects have been seeing.

A bug has also been found in the Windows version of BOINC which means that files larger than 4 GiB (2^32 bytes) are being left behind in slot directories, affecting CMS@home, vLHC and other BOINC projects with large downloads. If you are active on these projects, using Windows, please update your BOINC version to a patched version.

If you have any questions please let me know here.

You can find the download for the new version here.

Version 7.6.2 is also available for Linux ( Ubuntu and derivatives, Lubuntu etc ) at the costamagnagianfranco boinc repository
