Guys,
Since I am not short on cpu/mem or bandwidth on the server, I'm trailing feeding some world / UK / US news to the forum. Currently just a few outlets to see how it goes and if it enhances our forum or not.
Any requests for a specific feed will be considered.
Let me know what you guys think.

Is there a way to exclude the hound from the unread list?

I think you make a good point there Pete, there appears to be a propensity to over complicate things and go into unnecessary detail when a more concise answer would suffice......McShane of TSBT wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2017 12:31 am
There are too many outlets using the same news items. Less is often more...
Or yes

Continues to be a work in progress. As for excluding hound from unread list, there is no way currently that would work for all users across the board. I could set it as a seperate group which you have to opt into in order to see the posts, but that totally defeats the point of me adding a newsfeed in the first place which is to try and improve intrest and participation on the board.

It will still appear in your unread list, that's a whole different ball game.

Your wish is partially my command --- The Hound is now coded out of the recent post list.Alez wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2017 9:10 am Continues to be a work in progress. FWIW & IMHO etc I don't think we actually need the world news feed. [The Boinc one however is fabby,]
We get the news everywhere else on the interweb & it doesn't seem to be sparking much discussion. And yes, packing out the unread list to the potential detriment of real posts is an issue.
Still, well worth a try & many thanks for giving us the option.

Hurray
I can use the "Unread" function again and stand a chance of seeing real posts :)
Worth adding it to experiment, but jings, am I glad that it's gone.

Guys, This is your team, not my forum. If there are things that you hate and the majority agree, then simply let me know. You won't hurt my feelings.
Also at the top of every forum right hand side, you have the option to mark all posts read. That removes all posts from the unread list.
