Not sure what section this update should be in so I'm sticking it here on the end of this one!
Jost and FlyingfocRS - do you know that you can run Yoyo@home on your PS3? There is also a push to get RCN & Sudoku to support it as well. I wouldn't want you to let the No.1 placing slip, but spreading a few cycles around may be worthwhile. :)

Well I appear to have picked up a yoyo w/u on the PS3.
Will just have to wait and see what happens.
Credit is supposed to be around the 3500 per 24 hours or so.
So slightly less than PS3grid but not by much.
Will just have to see what happens.

Dammit, I'm going to have to buy one of these PS3 thingies.
The thing is I'll have to hide it: Jo will see it as a child corrupting bit of nonsense and hate it; The kids will love it for the same reasons, and will want to misuse it to play games. I can just imagine my 7 year-old sayng me with precocious sarcasm (that's my boy ) "So, you bought a PS3 but there's no games? That really makes sense, Dad!"
So, any tips on disguising a PS3?

He he
I'm struggling to justify to myself that I don't need to get another one!
But will just get the basic 40Gb model this time as the wireless doesn't work.

Well after the first success with yoyo looks like the second w/u got stuck in an endless loop with no progress, I'm only guessing this because the PS3 hasn't reported any results for two days now.
Managed to detach the project using BAM and the PS3 has contacted the PS3Grid project so is hopefully back crunching again.

crunched away merrily and then point blank refused to connect to the internet.
thought it was that yoyo had mucked up the installation so wiped the USB stick and started again but still no joy.
had to boot into the console to reset the internet connection, now it says I need to do a system update which usually takes a couple of hours.

Well, speaking for myself, it's nice to know that there are suitable trials and tribulations to go with the humongous amounts of credit those things produce. Of course, it's probably only cos I haven't figured out how to get one past herself yet....crunched away merrily and then point blank refused to connect to the internet.

trials and tribulations.
That's an understatement.
After I did the firmware update Linux refused to boot at all.
tried re-installing it etc no luck.
then read on the PS3grid forum that the 2.10 version of the firmware isn't compatible with the pendrive installation.
Or in otherwords it doesn't work!
But by downloading a new otheros.bld file from http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/ ... 3/otheros/ it now boots.
So that is me now finally back crunching again!
off for a lie down now
PS3 was close to becoming an expensive flying brick at one point this morning!
