#1 UK Election Comp #2 Scottish seats

Post by Megacruncher »

OK, as you probably know, on 6th May we vote for a new UK government. Of the 650 UK constituencies 59 are in Scotland.
The aim of the comp is to guess the number of MPs for each party in Scotland.

To start the ball rolling I will guess

Lab 37 LD 12 SNP 7 Con 3

The winner is the person with the lowest error score. If my prediction is spot on my error score will be 0 and I'd be the winner. If the results were 34-13-8-4 then my error score would be the Sum of (result predicted +/- actual result) for each party ie 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 6.

The prize will be a £20 amazon credit voucher.

Revise your entries as much as you like between now and close of voting at 10pm on the 6th of May.

It might also be fun to find out the politics of our members. Probably best just voting (anonymous) than detailed attributable & devisive political confesssionals/sermons. :)

I'm game to have a go:

Lab 22 LD 12 SNP 16 Con 9

I'm sure my complete lack of interest in politics will now be evident to all. :D

I keep hearing echoes of "Build a bonfire, build a bonfire..." ... :

Lab 36 LD 12 SNP 9 Con 2

... oh well, so much for the football results. :happy8:

Mrs T and I have already voted by post as will both be in France next week. No. 1 son, who is nearly 18 and can't vote yet, tells us that he would have voted for another party, quite the opposite of the one we voted for. Oh well, here goes...

Lab 30 LD 13 SNP 13 Con 3

And with only the Argyle & Bute result to come in our survey says:

Labour 41
Liberal Democrat 10
Scottish National Party 6
Conservative 1

I guess none of us knew what we were talking about! :D

It's okay for you - I think you won! Having said that, I can't face the prospect of actually doing all those calculations, so I could be wrong. :)

Nothing new about it!

Anyhoo as returning officer I declare PinkPenguin the clear winner (not many of them around today) with a teensie little Error score of 10. So as to spare other entrants blushes I'll not publish the full results.

Congrats PP :wav: :wav:

If only I'd stuck to my first guess ...
