#1 The Referendum Comp.
Time to trivialise the biggest event in 300 years in either the history of Scotland or of the United Kingdom .
The challenge is to guess to one decimal place the percentage of votes which will be cast for yes in response to the question "Should Scotland be an Independent Country?" In the vote on 18th September.
If you can post on this forum you can take part.
You can change your guess as often as you like so long as you don't steal someone else's guess.
Entries close at 2200 BST on 18th Sept 2014.
The winner gets a £20 Amazon voucher from me.
To start things off I predict 48.5%
With an inferred guess from MyShortPencil of 44.9%.

Well i am hoping sense prevails and that the yes is at 44.7%, i really hope its even less to crush the nonsense so that no simmering arguments rage on.

I don't think Wee Eck has seriously thought about what happens if he does win...

What happens to him if it's No? May have painted himself in a "political" corner. If it's a yes, watch his bank account for several more years after he's left office. There's big money in it for him somehow.PinkPenguin wrote:I don't think Wee Eck has seriously thought about what happens if he does win...

Wee Eek is a habitual liar who believes his own hype. The way he has developed a cult of personality around himself and turned an entire referendum about independence into a vote for himself is disgraceful. If he wins he's king of Scotland. If he loses then he will shout to the moon that the Scottish people were robbed by Westminster and Tories.scole250 wrote:What happens to him if it's No? He might be in a stronger bargaining position if he loses by a small margin... lots of kudos and support, no responsibility. Judging from all the kisses and promises of devo max and tax breaks the lads from London are throwing his way - his bank account is probably guaranteed either way... mind you they're a touch cautious about handing out English pound notes but that's probably because London cabbies don't like the Scottish ones.Alez wrote:Wee Eek is a habitual liar who believes his own hype. The people have spoken. In the morning we will see what they have said.
As a unionist I'd say that you've all been far too optimistic.
it's going to be close. If anyone other than myself wins I'll double the prize.

Well done Rab! :)
And well done Scotland especially the 85% turnout. There's hope for democracy yet!

Congrats Rob, any advice for the next lottery numbers
The turnout was quite impressive although we did lose ~12% of those registered to vote, which I find strange. Not sure why you would bother to register but not actually do the deed.
Anyway fingers crossed that in future people continue to use their vote to try and make a difference.

I'm more perplexed by the ballots cast with no mark on them, strange behavior
