#1 We'd like to Welcome...

Post by Megacruncher »

... Everyone!

But it's very hard to monitor the comings & goings as all the stats sites report activity which is clearly spurious. Also we have long since passed the size where a quick visual check will identify the newcomers.

So if you're new to the team please say hello so that we may welcome you and celebrate your arrival.

Of course before you can say hello you need to register with the forum. If you're having trouble doing this then please bear with us: We get a lot of dubious, and in the main automated, requests to join the forum from pornographers and drug dealers etc (nothing wrong with such members so long as they are running boinc! :)) If in doubt we don't allow these folks to join.

So to get accepted use a usermane that looks human generated and which coincides with your Boinc nickname. If we keep bouncing you then please send me, Megacruncher, a personal message though one of your projects so that I can look out for you.

Thanks to megacruncher for your attention in forum registration sounds like you are looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack of robot generated stuff; so may the force be with you!
New or Old - I am not sure, newly registered Yes, but think if I 'joined' in 2008 or so if my archived email is right, then Old. Have been crunching along in a small way for last 3+ years on my oldish Win XP Dell on Malaria & also WCG projects.

Hi Nilz,

Welcome to the forum and apologies for the delay in activating your account. One day I'll figure out how to upgrade to phpBB 3 which allegedly keeps the bots at bay. In the meantime I'll just keep combing that haystack.

Small way crunching is the way BOINCing should be - a myriad of genuine users with old Dells has to be better than an elite of over- equiped zealots IMHO.
