This is what I ran on a Radeon VII...
In the app_config.xml, I used this...
On Win64, this config must go in filename collatz_sieve_1.30_windows_x86_64__opencl_ati_gpu.config (in project folder)
On Linux, this config must go in the empty file with the appropriate filename. Should be easy to identify.
The Boinc client must be restarted after those files are changed. And if it does work, watch those GPU temps. It makes a big difference.
In the app_config.xml, I used this...
Code: Select all
<app_config>
<app>
<name>collatz_sieve</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>
On Linux, this config must go in the empty file with the appropriate filename. Should be easy to identify.
Code: Select all
verbose=1
kernels_per_reduction=48
threads=8
lut_size=17
sleep=1
reduce_cpu=0
sieve_size=30

I set up a thread for the PrimeGrid challenge. As for recruiting members, I too old and grumpy to be any good at recruiting members but if you have ideas, go for it. The members of the other UK teams are pretty loyal to their teams. I don't think there would be a very good response asking other teams to merge with us but you are welcome to see if there are individuals on UK teams, other teams or unaffiliated crunchers who wish to join TSBT.

a very good question, Sir
We do have a lot of good stats available so that you can see the effect of trying various hardware running various apps.
I realise that not everyone is into team challenges but we do also have a fun head-to-head challenge if a couple of people fancy pitting themselves against each other for a few days. This only works if you are part of TSBT team

I can't wait to see the results when those WU start finishing Gregg
I'm running the GFN 21s. I'm wondering if I should switch to the longer WU on the GTX 1080Ti since they have a higher bonus. Anyone know how long they take on a 1080Ti. They're taking 33k seconds on the 21s. I'm having to run at stock speed due to heat.
I found that my Intel servers running at 2.6G do much better than my 3G 2990WX machines. I guess since the 2990WX doesn't have direct memory access on half the cores it slows things up. I might try running the AMDs with 2 WU at 16 cores and assigning the affinity so 1 WU uses only the cores w/ direct memory access and the 2nd WU uses the other cores.

Don't have any finished yet but looking like 44hrs on a 1080ti (Linux, not OC, power limit at 90%)
More interestingly (for me) is that the 1660ti is looking only 10% slower for half the electricity

.. and .. TSBT is already 9th, closing on 8th. Well, if you can get 7th, you can probably get 6th!

I will be interested in seeing whether they do. I rarely pay attention to the teams at the top. My guess is that they are not bunkering. Bunkering really lowers your chance of being credited with finding the prime ( and that is be all and end all for many dedicated PGers ).
I did a search of the forums at PG for bunkering. Its not often mentioned and when it is there is often a negative connotation. There was the incident almost two years ago with the Pentathlon where several people tried to bunker PSA units and the admins reacted very badly ( and incorrectly to my mind since I was one of those people )
So I will be interested.

Sorry Gregg, I couldn't read the article or find a translation of it. Shame as it's always interesting to see how others see us.
Bor-arse, appalling carictature of a posh English entitled Tory buffoon that he is, is a great gift to the Nationalists & is any sensible Unionist's worst nightmare.
Which is why it's surprising that the recent General Election results weren't better for the Nats. Sure they got a huge majority of seats (first past the post really doesn't work at all proportionately in a 4 party system) but 55% of the votes went to the 3 Unionist parties with a very clear anti-indyref2 message. Of course in any referendum the Unionist vote will be, err, unified.
But definitely interesting times.
