Hi Gregg, I sorted out your avatar as the original was larger than the forum permitted. I must say what a happy-looking chap you are !!
Yes, we progress to League 1 of Formula Boinc next year & will find things much more difficult as the teams are larger. Hopefully a few more of them will truly be taking part as well

Thanks Gregg,
Are you familiar with the Collatz optimisation files for these cards? If not, try this for the 1080 to get run times of around 360 seconds
On Linux, this would go into a config file in project directory e.g. /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/collatz_sieve_1.40_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__opencl_nvidia.config There will be an empty file there already (unless you already optimise)

Code: Select all

lut_size=17
sieve_size=30
cache_sieve=1

In the folder \ProgramData\BOINC\projects\boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz\, do you have these 2 files with the following contents or similar?

Yes indeed - very pleased so far. Things will change a lot once the Sprints start as it will become rather clearer which teams are truly competing in it this year & which are staying on their favourite projects.
I get my FB kicks with bunkering to the max - and even speculating on which Sprints might get chosen. Only got one right last year - or was it two - but, to be honest, there weren't enough teams really trying in League 2 last year

That is a VERY good question.
I'll get some ideas on the other threads e.g. as I did for TN-Grid https://tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=178&t=17424
Things will change though and, even after only 4 weeks, it is fairly clear that we need to give up any idea of winning any FB points in certain marathons

As I've said before, we have to be realistic and accept that, in League 1 we are playing with the big boys, when in reality we are not that big.We simply cannot win.
But if we are smart we could possibly hold on to our current 6th place. I'd be disappointed to finish outwith the top 10 & devastated to finish below UBT!
For the marathons we really need to concentrate on the smaller projects, as we have been doing. Crunching for SETI WCG etc is a waste of time.
For the sprints, attention, focus, anticipation & luck are the main determinants of success. Preemptive bunkering, married with luck, might be useful. but key will be switching all resources over to every sprint as soon as it is announced.
So, all hands on deck, all year round!

I certainly knew of Katyn but didn't realise Polish forces were involved during Market Garden - not one of Montgomery's better campaigns. Too much political pressure to reach Berlin before Paton

There are different numbers for each card - it depends on how much memory it has & how many Cuda cores. The one I supplied was derived personally by experimentation on a Gtx2070 Super so should work nicely. I don't have a 2080ti to try it on

I have slightly under clocked my card though and hence am actually getting 148 secs so nearly spot on David.

Gregg, do you know how to monitor the GPU temps and increase fan speed if needed? Running the optimized configurations will make them run hotter.
