#1 Call to arms

Post by FlyingfocRS »

toot da da toot - trumpet call
Einstein needs you.
We are in a negative gains situation on this project with more teams due to overtake us than we are going to overtake.
A moderate increase in RAC will see us safe for a while so if anyone can spare a core or two it would be greatly appreciated.

Mikes call to arms has been fairly well answered.

As this Boincstats table shows we are unlikely to drop below 100th and after that the recovery will be considerable. Our E@H rank by TC just now is 97th and by RAC it is 82nd. This is healthy but several hares are breathing down our necks so we must maintain our recent increase to hold them off while we overtake some distant tortoises.

A month on we are still 97th, but the hares are going to get us before we get the tortoises. Unless we can shift up a gear we risk a visit to 100th in a couple of months.

Thankfully there isn't much risk of anything worse.

Still no point in straying too close to the cliff edge if we can avoid it! :)

 We are down to 100th for Einstein! We are on the edge of the abyss but fairly well belayed for just now. By Xmas we should, at current rates, be back up to 98th, but thereafter things might turn nasty. Just a few of us crunching another few hundred credits each per day for the project might make a big difference to our longterm prospects.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the Einstein rescue effort. It's going to be a toughie but I think we can do it.

At present we are 99th. At current rates, according to Boincstats Carelton College will overtake us in 16 days; Campus Alfred Nobel will repeat the trick, putting us 101st, 6 days later; on day 49 we will regain 100th from Phoenix Rising only to have Dutch Power Cows demote us again 5 dats later. This would be a sad end to 2009 so let's not let it happen.

The situation is looking much brighter. As things stand Carelton College are just 8 days away from demoting us to 100th. 14 days hence we cuff Phoenix Rising for 99th. 3 days after that Campus Afred Nobel knock us down again but on day 20 99th is ours again courtesy of Overclockers.com.

Then we are safe. For a while at least. 8)

We are into 100th for Einstein.
But be ye alarmed not! Tomorrow we overtake Phoenix rising to get back to 99th. So long as we can then overtake overclockers.com at anytime within the next month we will be safe for ages.

98th for Einstein Now!
:wav:
Which, with only two teams likely to overtake us anytime soon, means we are safe for the foreseeable. We should finish the year in 99th and then make gradual gains throughout 2010 with 90th likely at current rates. If they get a better CUDA app we shall fare even better. :)

5 months on we are in 99th still by TC but fairly safe. We are 71st by RAC which won't result in gains as meteoric as you might imagine but will do nicely in the long run.

Well done everyone. We are back in 98th for Einstein with 97th imminent.

We are about 750K clear of 101st so can consider our position in the top 100 pretty secure. 15K per day will be enough to let us consolidate our position.

97th at last!! But 101st is half a million away or a couple of months of total inactivity - which won't happen. Some modest steady crunching - 10K/day would do for now, 15K/day would be much better - will keep us afloat for the foreseeable with maybe a special effort from time to time. :)
