#1 Primegrid 2020 Challenge #2

Sooo ... This is a late post, partially intended, partly otherwise. This challenge starts in as little under three hours from now so this is definitely late notice. However, this challenge also overlaps the 1st FB sprint entirely. This challenge starts 7 hours b4 the sprint and ends 17 hours after the sprint .. so I expect that most everyone will be doing FB except the PG addict ( c'est moi ). If anyone would care to spend a few hours on this at the end of the sprint, I welcome you.

Now the bureaucratic details:

Date: 12-Mar-2020, 06:00:00 UTC to 17-Mar-2020 06:00:00 UTC
Project: llrSR5 (CPU only)

As with all PG Challenges, only workunits downloaded after the start of the challenge and completed and returned by the end of the challenge are valid (double-check validation not required).

This is the 2nd of 9 challenges this year, ( http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/challenge.php ), the next is a 3 day challenge from 1 Apr to 4 Apr.

This is an LLR project so running with HT off or at 1/2 threads is best. Like all LLR projects it benefits/demands multi-threading.

This is the section of the app_config.xml file that I use for SR5:

Code: Select all

  <app>
    <name>llrSR5</name>		<!-- Sierpinski/Reisel Base 5 -->
    <max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
    <fraction_done_exact>1</fraction_done_exact>
    <report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
  </app>

  <app_version>
    <app_name>llrSR5</app_name>
    <plan_class>mt</plan_class>
    <cmdline>-t 8</cmdline>
    <avg_ncpus>8</avg_ncpus>
  </app_version>
Vary specific numbers as needed.

thank you

Had they had the decency to use a gpu project on the sprint, I would have taken part on this. Good luck with it

I am getting on ( for me ) well. After 2 days, 3 to go I am running in the the mid to high 40s and I expect to finish about there. TSTB is running 25-26th in no small part due to @jockmacmad2 who started slow but is now threatening to crack the top 100 ( 133rd ) :clap: .

Possibly but only if this PrimeGrid task that has been running for 1d 04:23:17 ever finishes... and stops hogging 6 cores.

silver lining .. maybe it is eliminating a "k" .. ( ok, that is the optimist in me ).

29 hrs with 6 cores. That does not sound right (despite my earlier hopeful/flippant reply) in almost any config I can imagine. I can't comment much w/o further info but .. a quick system reboot to see if the behavior changes? It just sounds off.

Yes and still running this morning at 1d 11:08:00. I might have to restart Boinc at least.

Yes if you look it was me that raised it ;) (well reraised it and necro'ed an old thread)

But 10x was around 22 hours and I rebooted around 1d 8h so it was likely stuck as soon as boinc restarted it was gone.
