#1 Collatz Project Down Until...

Post by Newshound »

It seems a few people have come up with a way to game the system. Until I figure out what damage they have done and how many thousands of work units need to be re-issued, the daemons are shut down. You should still be able to return any completed work units and they will eventually be validated and credit given if valid, but no new work units will be sent until new applications and server daemons have been developed.

All I can do is laugh. I wonder if Gridcoin will ever admit how much they were scammed out of? I do feel bad for Slicker though. It's not his fault but now he must make changes to his project to keep scammers from stealing from Gridcoin. I sure hope Gridcoin is reimbursing him for his time.

Not the first time and not as if we didn't see it coming......
I guess his first action should be to demand his project is removed from the Gridcoin whitelist.
Bet Moo is glad that Gridcoin doesn't regard the project as ' sciency ' enough to still be included in their list

Seems grcpool.com-3 has been docked 1.8 billion credits on the project so far ..... guess we know who the cheaters are.

Seems the value of Gridcoin is crashing too. Oh dear , how sad...

Unbelievably there are people already pissing and moaning about no work and threatening to leave the project thread . Maybe they should head over to Gridcoin and vent there.
Do these idiots not realise that other projects are available, even if temporarily, until Collatz is back online. Do these idiots also realise just how much work slicker will have on his hands cheat proofing his apps and validation ?
And then of course there are the holier than thou mob stating that Collatz had it coming for paying so much credit and they should pay a lot less so the project is not attractive enough for the cheats. Under what rocks do these people live ????

They don't live under rocks Alez, they just have their heads where the sun don't shine  If they ever extracted their heads and took a look around they might learn something.

I think you are being too optimistic Bryan .. I don't think they would learn a thing. Not sure they have eyes to see or ears to listen ..

The idiots are at it again, Collatz has made all incoming results invalid to counter the credit thiefs.

Unbelievable, this is from Jon
The issue is that someone is trying to hack the output and their crap is causing the validator to crash. I'm trying to add code to filter their invalid results so it will stop crashing on every bad WU returned.
Collatz should just demand to be removed from the coin chasers 'white list'

I hope this is not happening again...

Do you have reason to believe it might be?
I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

Just guessing, but their website is down, and WUs of the last days do not get verified...

Yup I've not been able to get new collatz work.
I do have 5K completed WU and about 4K still to crunch.
In the circumstances it is rather unlikely that Collatz will be chosen for the next sprint so I'll cease my crunching for now & hope that the project gets back online in time for us to get some credit for it.
I have 111 hrs.

Collatz seems to be back up.
Chances are it won't be a contender for the next FB sprint. But then again weirder shit has happened.
Whatever it might be worth a wee spurt so we can claim second place and another 3 FB points.

You mean load up, shut the door and crunch, right?

Of course.
I've got 5500 completed WU which will last at least until the next sprint.
