How many cores are needed?

It would be interesting to setup. Adapters, switch and cables might run $250-$350.

What mix of systems can you use? Do they all need to be the same or similar or can you connect an 8 core i7 + 24 core X5650 + 56 core + 72 core?

Core speed must be the same otherwise the fast cores will need to wait for the slower ones since the calculation is broken into pieces.

3M 16e V5 wus, grab them whilst you can.

Have decided to run NFS@Home for the pirates until my move to the new house. 7 days. Then I’ll be without internet access until I sort out the new provider. Hope this help your run for formula boinc.

Cheers Carlos, good luck with the house move. I'm going to try and sort out three more stars on WUProp to make a bronze go silver then I'll try and help out batter down the number of 16e tasks available. Maybe next time there is going to be a large dump, give us a heads up and we could call a BOINCstats competition on it and maybe help boost the number of users.

Alez, the number of wus are almost infinitive so no rush on doing them. Greg (admin) is slowly doing the background calculations on several servers for the outstanding numbers already sieved. Anyone nearby Milton Meynes are keen to get in touch with me for a pint. Also soon I’ll be visiting Edinburgh.

I usually warn SETI.USA about fast wus on 16e V5 side. Please be aware they might pop out since currently for S2p1133 sieving composite at q=2060784049 total yield around 650. As q goes up, yield goes down, wu speed will go up, same 130 points. Stay tuned. Talking about 130 points per 5-10 mins or even less time. I can’t guarantee up to q level we are going to since I don’t have access to that part of the server. Usually at q=3G you will have that speed.

Any chance you can put a spanner in the works and delay them until the seti sprint is over for the AP assault on Formula Boinc ? Only need 4 days .....

Alez, I’m not in control of NFS therefore I can’t do anything else. I’ll keep all updated if those fast wus show up.

After the end of the penthalon where I’m helping the Trump team I’ll run NFS until Monday for Anguillian. Then I’ll come back a week later since I’ll be going to Italy with my wife for a break.

Back to help you guys running NFS for the boinc formula. Will be making pauses whilst I post-process some integers for the project, small jobs lasting less than 24 hours run.

More than 3M wus available for 16e Lattice Sieve V5 application. Could you support mersenneforum.org team on doing some 250k wus?! TIA.

63% per hour for 16e Lattice Sieve V5 1.11 WU on my ancient dual core Athlon. Could be worse. So I guess I am going to join this project. Once I finish climateprediction@home and reinstall Windows 10 I will try to crunch for this project continusly for some time.

Was running out of RAM on one machine until I spotted the error of my ways - 44 cores on only 32Gb RAM doesn't let you run full bore on 16e Sieve.

Working on a cheapskate fix though. Stagger the starting times as the process takes some time to grow to its full size. The plan is that some will be finishing and freeing up memory for the younget WU

The 16e Lattice Sieve V5 requires 1GB RAM per WU.

pinhodecarlos I'll try and crunch a few units for you as well. Nothing spectacular I'm afraid as the server shed is currently shut down after some jackdaws tried to burn the house down. Still, every little helps I guess.

Hi all, thank you for your support. We also have yoyo@home doing some ECM.
In the meantime I’ve shut down my one rack laptop server since I’m less than one hour to go to Luton airport. I’ll turn it on on my return from Easter break within a week.

Have a lovely Easter if you celebrate it, if not a lovely break.

Carlos

Was wondering if you guys could give NFS@Home a boost on the 16e small, only in particular with two integers" 911_97m1" and "3_10_300m1". They are both important to respective projects. First will have 184,000 Wu's, not sure yet about the second one, I suspect more than 300,000 wus.

These are run in less than 1700 seconds per Wu on an ivy bridge CPU. Deadline is 4 days so most likely not in terms with your goals for formula BOINC.

Please don't break the server!
