#1 More Cosmology Problems

Post by Megacruncher »

This project has been FUBARed for a few days now but is possibly recovering. We got 39K worth of credit on it today/yesterday if you're a pedant/BST diehard. I cleared the cache of one of my PCs. The cache of another is still trying to upload dozens of completed WUs. And I can now connect to the project site at least one time in three!

So keep going.

There are three grades of FU, my friends, in ascending order of "up-edness":

SNAFU - Situation Normal, All F***ed Up

TARFU - Things Are Really F***ed Up

FUBAR - F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition

There are many variants, but this is the true puda.

Another little known one is
FUGAZI - F***ed Up, Got Ambushed, Zipped In
Was used in Vietnam and was a referrence to soldiers who quite literally got it wrong and ended up in a body bag.

If your children or mother ask then of course it's means Fouled Up Beyond etc.

But they aren't, not any more. I finally got about 110 Cosmology results uploaded, clearing my backlog entirely. In fact all my active projects are working again. Yippee! :wav:

Another of these dubious acronyms employed in medical circles, 20 years ago at least, when I was newly qualified & young & callous, is T.F. BUNDY. It describes those unfortunates whose waning hold on life is a burden, not only to them but, more so, to whatever over-worked junior doctor is expected to claim few more pointless hours of painful existence for them. Shamefully it stands for Totally F***ed But Unfortunately Not Dead Yet.

Even before the advent of political correctness we were discouraged from writing it in notes. I wonder why. :?

Which reminds me of GOMER (or alternatively, GOOMER) -- a relatively clean one standing for "Get Out of My Emergency Room", referring to the practice of "turfing" the poor unfortunate to a floor/wing/ward to get rid of him/her.

How did we get here, and what am I doing in this handbasket?
