I've had to turn this project off on my network. Haven't had time to find out, but seems to have got a lot worse since the new OONI application went live.
OONI: iThena integration of OONI Probe boosts censorship measurement coverage worldwide
Currently working from home, streaming from at least 4 different servers and I've found that this project can absolutely batter my network , especially on the upload side. Doesn't help that my home network is crap. Currently waiting for the Scottish Government to get it's finger out and approve a grant so I can get a second connection established. That will be a line of sight RF network straight to a fibre optic connection.
What I have now is simply not good enough for work and the boys sim racing online.

It would be ironic in the extreme if a project set up to measure, and by doing so combat, internet censorship were to end up f**king up it's users internet connectivity.
Endless conspiracy theories will no doubt flourish, but I'm pretty sure that, as for most human activity, cock-up theories are way more likely than conspiracy ones.
As for the conspiracies, most, if not all, will be cocked-up!

Had a look on the project forum and it seems I'm not the only one to notice it can seriously slow down home broadband. I had it connected on 4 systems, don't know if it was running on all 4 or just 1. Not going to test it as I need a stable network just now, not really time for a science experiment.
