What is the Universe made of? How did it start? Physicists at CERN are seeking answers, using some of the world's most powerful particle accelerators.
LHC@Home is a volunteer computing platform where you donate idle time on your computer to help physicists compare theory with experiment, in the search for new fundamental particles and answers to questions about the Universe.
Volunteer computing is a well-established form of citizen science where you download scientific software on your own laptop or desktop and run simulations, in a way that does not interfere with your computer’s normal operation.
Whether it's calibrating searches for particles, fine-tuning the machines and beam dynamics, contributing to building new theories on dark matter, or creating simulations of antimatter and new phenonema never-before seen in the LHC's giant detectors... Whether you choose one or several projects to participate in, your contribution will have a very real impact on which will help us make monumental discoveries about the Universe we live in.

ATLAS@home
"Known" physics and "new" phenomena - want to create alternative models of the universe?
Beauty
"b" is for "Beauty" - the gorgeous little particle in antimatter physics.
CMS@Home
CMS is on the lookout for completely new, unpredicted phenomena.
SixTrack
Help CERN accelerator engineers to run intensive simulations to check the stability of the twin proton beams circulating in the LHC machine.
Test4Theory
Simulate high-energy particle collisions and help tune the theory to the experimental results.

This a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to advance Particle and Accelerator Physics. Participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer. By default, you can run the classic LHC@home application Sixtrack, for simulations of accelerator physics, and help researchers at CERN to improve the LHC.
Other LHC@home simulations that have been running on the Virtual LHC@home BOINC project will also be available here, and join Sixtrack on the original LHC@home.
