#1 Q about Rieselsieve

Post by Reeltime »

According to The rieselsieve homepage, and to Buster in anonther thread, more wu's should take about 30 mins on a 2kHz machine,

I'm finding them taking about 90 mins, anything obvious I should be doing?

Or does my machine just not like them very much?

I hadn't really appreciated what a difference the 64bit system made! I must get around to trying it on this machine. I got as far as burning a Kubuntu 64bit CD; just never got as far as putting it in the drive before turning on!! :?

Aha, I see what it is, 64 bit seems to make just a wee bit of a difference then lol

Another question regarding llr. Do they normally take 6 times the time of the sieve units or is it just me again lol?

Haven't done any but I've seen a lot of reports about them taking a looooooooonnnnnng time; not half as long as they take to validate though. :)

Running LLR units on athlon fx 57 at 2.8ghz the times I saw were 5 to 8 hours per unit with the odd 11 hour work unit. Validation takes weeks sometimes. Sieve units on the same system take about 1hr 10min. Hope that gives a lil help on comparing
