Forum view adjustments
#1 Forum view adjustments
Dear TSBT admins,
I was wondering if it's possible for registered users to hide 'Forum rules' red banner and 'Announcments'.
I read them, I'm familiar with them and I don't want to see them again.
Things would look little bit neater.
What do you say?

Spooky - I've been discussing some of this with Alez just recently. I'll get my own thoughts and opinions sorted out and see what we can come up with
I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

Would be great if other members of TSBT shared their views as well.

Good grief no - that would never work. Next thing, folks will be thinking its a democracy

I've removed the global announcements. Can't say they really bothered me that much, guess I just zone them out.
I'll look at the forum rules. There is no way for you to hide them. At the moment the only way to change that is for me to go through every forum and modify or remove them. I may or I may not. It's only one line after all.
I'll try to figure out a way to show rules on the forum page but not on each topic. Will do it when I get a chance.

Forum rules have now been moved as per request. Copy of rules is available in index bar under terms of use.
Let me know if you find a forum I have missed.

You are really living dangerously ... that was the only thing that was keeping me in line

I'm sure I mentioned that anarchy would be the inevitable consequences. In your case I doubt a Barrett 50 cal would keep you in line

Sweet. Board looks the way I like.
Many thanks, admins.

Another thing I think would need improvements or modifications. User avatars are smaller thank rank avatars when browsing forum on smartphone.
Would be nice to display them as smaller avatars, as text or not at all.
What do you say, lads?

You can hide them completely with add-ons such as Stylish to provide custom CSS e.g. .profile-rank { display: none }
You can hide avatars using the User Control Panel

I like avatars. I like rank avatars as well. It was my shy thought about resizing or hiding them.
Will try to check over the weekend that add-on you mention about, David.

#16 Major revamp
I have started a major revamp of the Project forums. What used to be the 'forum rules' box now contains several relevant links to let you see how our team is doing on that Project. There is also a real-time clock which will ALWAYS display UTC as this is always used for start / end times on challenges and sprints
Above that 'pink box' - it might not stay pink - are even more links to relevant pages on the Project, on BoincStats and on Formula Boinc.
Everything is clickable - probably easier for you to just try each logo and link rather than have me explain them. Links within the 'pink box' will usually open within the box rather than on a new tab.
This is a work-in-progress so things may change as I figure out better ways of doing things. Eventually, it will be rolled out across all project forums (and perhaps a few others)
Have a look on TnGrid, PrimeGrid, Formula Boinc, or Daily Stats Reports to see where I've got to

Thank you.
I completely agree about the scroll bar. I tried to take a look to see how configurable it was but I get a blank screen instead of a setup screen. I'll flag this up for Alez
