That's convenient, I was planning on switching to TN-Grid / Wanless at the end of February.
I'll see what the rest of the team are doing, you'll either have an extra competitor or an extra (temporary

) team member.

UBT - Woodles ,We'll take either the temporary member or a bit of local competition for jokes and general wind ups
If you're competing against us, I expect some ' piss taking' from both side on the forum please

More info is available in science section of TN-Grid forum
https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/forum_forum.php?id=2
Basically , currently studying genes related to
A.Thaliana
Prostate Cancer
Coronary artery diseases
The goal of this experiment is the identification of gene networks involving human genes of medical relevance for two broad families of human pathologies: motor neuron diseases (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_neuron_disease) and hematopoietic tumors (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumors_of ... id_tissues).
Human gene network expansion will take advantage of the comprehensive gene expression dataset provided by the FANTOM project (
http://fantom.gsc.riken.jp/5/data/).
Moving to the FANTOM project dataset has been a big challenge for us. The original input contains a slightly different type of data (RNAseq instead of micro-array contrasts) and has 10 times the variables of the biggest data matrix we used so far.
Human is known to have around 20.000 protein-coding genes and 5.000 non-coding ones, but the technology employed in the FANTOM project allowed them to analyze expression at a higher resolution, reporting data also for alternative splicing. The raw dataset reports expression levels for more then 200.000 transcripts in 1829 conditions, wich would been too big to be explored, so we had to filter it.
A strongly related challenge comes from the highly specificity of certain transcripts, that are expressed only in few conditions. This is translated in lines of data with very few non-zero entries that are very likely to correlate one with another.
We are currently testing two version of the input dataset. The first one is a general filtering on the lines that have no HGNC code (
www.genenames.org). The second is a more fine grained filtering, where we have removed also transcripts with less then 10% non-zero entries and gene-isoforms too similar one with another.
Most of the work in this moment is focused toward understanding which one of the two dataset is performing "better".

For this challenge we are testing a new in house stats system for TSBT useage . See the first post in this thread for the table.
https://tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=10999
Currently showing data in real time. Dat will be reset to start date of competition.
The more that join the challenge for the team , the better we will be able to test the system.

I guess you need to check the deadline on the units you have. On my laptop they are all 2/3/19 which would obviously have expired before the start.

Although you will need to finish or abort any units running that won't finish in time before you close the lid on your bunker.

Hi all,
A few of the team have decided that we need to limber up a bit before the Formula Boinc sprints start so we shall be (hopefully) giving you a little friendly competition.
UBT gets automatically entered into all the Boincstats challenges (something to do with the way they're set up?) but we don't always compete. We will be this time though.
Good luck all.

We are the same with the automatic entry. It was something available a long time ago on BOINCstats, but not anymore. As far as I'm aware the only way to revoke it would be to contact Willie and ask him to do it. I just left as is. Easier to just not compete than to revoke and sign up for ones we want to do.
Hopefully we get a good turn out and a bit of fun as we go.
Good luck to all your guys and girls.

The more-astute of you will notice that the top post now contains 2 stats tables. One for TSBT and the other for our
mortal enemies good friends at UBT.
Most of us will be bunkering so don't expect much movement until 4th March when all hell will break loose. I will also synchronise the start times on both to be the Challenge start time - thereafter
in theory my totals should agree with a fresh update on Boincstats.
This is new code so don't beat me up if it still has bugs in it

I'm just off to insert another line of PHP code ...
if( $team == "TBST" ) $credits = $credits * 1.2; //no-one will notice

UBT - Woodles Thanks to the hard work from davidBAM you might notice something of interest to you and your team on the first post in this topic
https://tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=10999
I have also made it available in the public General forum. Topic is here
https://tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php? ... 530#p68530 where any UBT members can see it without making an account on the forum. Of course they are always welcome to make an account and post if they wish.
You can also link to it on your forum if a bit of old fashioned rivalry gets a few more involved.
The stats update every 15 mins and will be reset just prior to kick off. Enjoy .
