#1 Top 50 Competition.

Listen up TSBT dudes.
[Edit: "Dudes" should be read as a friendly term encompassing those of all genders or none :) .]
We are overdue a competition and with a major landmark looming it seems apposite to set the following questions:
a. On what date shall we become world #50?
b. Who will be displaced so we can claim this honour?
The prize goes contrary to TSBT tradition in that it might expand your intellect rather than reduce it

: an Amazon gift voucher for £15/$25.
The Rules
Boincstats and I shall arbitrate the result.
My decision, however self interested, is final.
You can amend your guesses up until 15th November.
You have to be an active member of TSBT to enter.
So I shall venture the first guess:
24th November displacing Hungary.

Listen up TSBT dudes.
First of all, what about our dudettes? I don't think you would look great with a black eye.
25 Nov for me.

25 Nov for me.
D'oh! That was what I meant to say(not the 24th as already taken by Mega!

) but seeing as it was a quick 'placeholder' I'll let you have it and take the 23rd for the moment.

How can you know that? It might give me that cute panda look.
I had assumed that "dudes" was, like "guys", one of those words that loses much of its gender specificity in the plural ,and certainly don't want to exclude anyone from the competition.
Anyway, what dudettes? If we have any forum members who are unburdened by a Y chromosome let them make themselves known now, preferably non-violently.

Ok, I've finally had a proper look and decided that I'd stick with the 23rd - then noticed that Reeltime claimed this in the second post in this thread!!
Mostly to make sure I haven't tried to poach someone else, here's a list of what we've got so far...
- 22nd passing Hungary - MacDitch
- 23rd passing Hungary - Reeltime
- 24th passing Hungary - Megacruncher
- 25th passing ???????? - Buster Gunn (Hungary I presume, but maybe he knows something. :) )
- 26th passing Hungary - Utopia-i
Lots of options left if anyone else wants a shot at the cash.....

i'll take the 18th

Optimistic or have I stored a large cache of work

Go on tell us!
Anyway todays bumper upload convinces me that I should move my guess forward a bit to the 20th so that gives us the following ( I think we can assume Hungary unless something strange happens.)
steve ............. 18th
Megacruncher . 20th
FlyingfocRS .... 21st
MacDitch ........ 22nd
Reeltime ........ 23rd
Buster ........... 25th
Utopia-i ......... 26th
We still have some possible dates left & you could always risk a guess on someone other than hungary!

Okay that's it, no new entries or revised guesses.
The news is it wasn't Reeltime.
Do you know, with just 1.8 million between us and Hungary, there's a real chance that I (19th) might win my own competition. Still, lots could happen yet & Steve (18th) or even FlyingfocRS (20th) are also serious prospects.

The 16th is over, so MacDitch can forget his chances of an Amazon voucher.
Our daily credit is increasing so fast that ianmbaker2 [ how many ianmbakers does TSBT have?] might be in with a chance. but I suspect Steve is current favourite with my good self as likely runner-up. I'm so excited that I could fart. No change there then!

Steve has got to be favourite
but my (admittedly half-arsed) calculations seem to say that at the daily update today we should be a mere 86k behind - and we frequently make that much up before midnight so Ian may yet snatch another win.....

There only one Ian Baker, I just managed to mess up my signing on to the team. But I can't be lucky twice, can I?

Yes he can & yes he is!
As of now Boincstats says
TSBT ...... 143,633,636
Hungary . 143,596,348
The one & only Ian Baker guessed that today, 17th of November, TSBT passed Hungary to take 50th place overall!!!!
So :wav: for him & :wav: for all of us!

Two competitions in a row. This is getting embarassing. Sorry Steve.
Many thanks to all the Crunchers whose efforts have helped TSBT get to number 50 a lot quicker than I expected.
Onward and upwards.
