#1 Second Billion Competition.
Posted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 11:59 pm
by Megacruncher
We are closing on our second billion with the last total being 1,913,690,780. :wav:
Whilst obviously a rather smaller deal than the first billion, it still seems worth a small comp.
So your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to guess to the nearest hour when we clock up 2,000,000,000 with
Temujin's excellent stats being the measuring device. Guesses should be in GMT and state date and hour. eg 4th November 2100. You just have one guess but you can revise it as often as you wish. The prize will be a £10 Amazon e-voucher. I will be the sole judge of everything and there will be no prospect of any appeal.
To kick things off here is my guess:
4th November 2100

If you want to know TJs correct stats for us then you'll have to look at:
http://www.ubtstats.co.uk/tsbt/ubt_grap ... inc%20Team
where, hovering over the last hour column, some of the rest of the stats is a bit frozen, something to do with the update no doubt, you will see that our total is now 1,986,936,140. This leaves me fairly happy with my guess. Are you with yours?
5th November, 19:00 - Reeltime
6th November, 02:00 - johnn
6th November, 10:00 - PinkPenguin
6th November, 11:00 - aardvark

Meh, I find this page (

Whatever.

Temujin has sorted the recently migrated stats so you can look at what you will & it will be accurate and up tp date.
We are now just 9,060,170 short of 2 billion so I'm letting a little optimism into my soul and bringing forward my guess:
5th November, 19:00 - Reeltime
6th November, 02:00 - johnn
6th November, 10:00 - PinkPenguin
6th November, 11:00 - aardvark
6th November, 17:00 - Megacruncher
6th November, 21:00 - Mr Thinhead
7th November, 08:00 - MacDitch
7th November, 21:00 - Andy Manzie
8th November, 12:00 - Steve
9th November, 09:00 - CycloneRanger
Surely someone must be wanting to move their bet?

5.8 million left to destination. PM on the sixth very likely indeed.
I've updated the list and adjusted my own guess just a little.
Most of the guesses could do with some fine tuning.

6th November, 18:00 - Megacruncher

I was going to stick with my original guess, but as Megacruncher keeps insisting "Most of the guesses could do with some fine tuning." I'll change it.

Just over a million to go.

The tally at 9pm was 445K short so at current rates 1am might actually be a better bet.

Just checked and the tally at 10pm was was still 340k short.

I'll move my guess to 2am on the 7th and turn the internet off to save me sitting up watching all night!

Only 203K left to do. So I don't think it'll be an all-nighter - unless MacD really does switch the internet off

- but 1 am is now the most likely time of triumph.

Amazing. I've won something.

But the
2,000,000,000 is something much bigger, and my contribution to that is tiny.
In other words, I think a
well done all round is called for.
