Hi Guys, Long time no see.

Still hanging in there. More maladies than I can count, but still kicking and
screaming. Nice to see Mike and a few others coming back. I have a notebook that I'm currently configuring to run what else BOINC, That's about all I can handle. Looks like Milky Way might be my project of choice.

Hi Willie. I read about your 12th BOINC birthday. If I had kept going, I'd be around there too. I still liked the old Classic Seti best. 1 wu / 1 credit.

For all you new guys here, I used to be Willie's (Megacruncher) worst nightmare as far as competition.

Take care all. I'll drop in from time to time.

:hello2: :hello2:

Wow Buster, what an entrance!

Great to hear from you after all this time, :D :D :D

It's been over 3 years since you pretty much announced your imminent departure from this vale of tears so I had rather assumed the worst. Just like we all did the time before.

It would be nice to see you crunching again (your notebook can probably manage a token amount of SETI) and even nicer to see you challenging me for the right to overtake Merlyn [maybe he too is about to stage a surprise comeback] but nicest of all is just knowning that you are still with us.

Welcome back old friend.

Merlyn just stopped. Without warning or explanation he went overnight from being a world top 10 cruncher and regular poster here to nothingness.

Very strange. But we've survived and are doing respectably well even without his collossal input.

Welcome back, Buster. A couple of years ago I read your posts and joined the team. At the time I felt sad and wondered what had happened so it's good to see that you are still "kicking and screaming".

All the best and a happy new year. :D

Hi guys. Yup, it's me. I can run my old machines again and some of them have GPUs's. Still feeling my way. Things have changed a lot. Amazing that some machines were sitting idle for almost 4 years and they picked up right where they left off. I'll try to get everything under 1 acct but it's been awhile. That big Collatz haul was compliments of my grandson under a different account. He's letting me have it.

I decided to stop listening to the doctors and start doing what I want. Went from 10 pills/day to 4. I can now go up and down stairs again and I don't take naps every 4 hours. I even got rid of my diabetes.

I think I can crank out about 325K a day.

Thanks to all the "new guys" for the greets. Hope to get to know you all better. I still see some old friends hanging around.

I was sorry to hear about Merlyn/Steve.

Enough for now. Time for a nap.(Just kidding).

Hi Buster, superb, it's really you!

I'm really pleased to hear that you are finally on the mend as you most certainly seem to be (getting shot of diabetes is quite a feat). As a medic myself I couldn't recommend entirely ignoring medical advice but most of us quite like it when the extent of a patient's recovery confounds our pessimism. Doing what you want is often a good plan if nothing else works. :)

And at last I'm no longer the token old-timer trying to carry the culture from the days of steam powered SETI Classic.

Great to have you back, alive, crunching & posting!

:D :D :D :D

Thanks Willie.

Nice to be back. I haven't ignored the doctors all together but I do question everything they do.

Sorry I can't chase you like I used too. THAT WAS FUN. lol

How's your boy? He must be getting big by now.

As well you should. Medicine is a practice not always a perfect solution.

20 years in medicine myself taught me to question everything and be my own advocate.

Glad to hear your feeling better.

And another 'Gunn' to the battle!!

Quite right, question everything: nearly all the advice doctors offer is well intentioned; but only some of it is scientifically based; and none of it is free!

2 boys thanks: Johnny is 13yo & full of muscle & attitude and only 7cm shorter than me, whereas Duncan, 10, is still reassuringly little.

As for your chasing abilities, I wouldn't bet against a few upgrades appearing over time and even at your current output you'll be doing a bit of overtaking before long.

I'm a legend in my own mind, but thanks anyway. I missed TSBT and BOINC tremendously but when you can't go downstairs by yourself, it's a little hard. Actually, going down wasn't bad, the return trip was comical.

Right now I'm just trying to catch up to you guys in badges. Didn't have them when I left. After that I'll help out with the challenges and other stuff.
One good thing I've noticed is that the BOINC software is a lot better now than it was.

Well i'm back crunching, just used a scatter gun approach once I'd remembered my logins lol
I'll just settle back in slowly not chasing credits etc like before.
