Well thats Orac plumbed in and getting geared up for this ( if you're old enough you'll know the name ). First few days might be a bust on the lappy though as i'm off to Lithuania !!! not by choice I might add. Anyway will do as much as possible and hopefully a few other members join us for a good effort.

19 hours to go. Einstein seems to have an ATI app now which might be useful.

And we're off, back from a frozen field in Lithuania... unfortunately back to freezing tomorrow.
15th for now, sure we can gain on that.

It would seem my old ATI card and my laptop ATI card do not have enough memory to crunch this project :(

We are 16th of 22 active teams. I', back on Einstein after a break so its a bit of a standing start. So far I've only added 2K to the tally. I've got 7 times that waiting to be validated. Once they start coming thru the pace will pick up a little.

... er, if the Russians can tank their GPUs with Vodka maybe we can try... maybe not, it'd be a pity to waste good whiskey! :D

Just look at it this way: We're taking a fine, invigorating, evening stroll while everyone else is rushing around with their knickers in a twist!... I don't suppose that they'll ever learn. :D

We came into this ranked 140th by RAC for this project. It's hardly surprising that we are being spanked by some serious big hitters. Nothing to be ashamed of in that.

Also if you've got 10K in pending credit I estimate I've got at least 25K waiting to clear. So I reckon that by the end we will be respectable alsorans even if a podium finish is unlikely.

And we are fighting back!

We are still in 16th (8 teams behind us, none of them threats) but are gaining on the number 15 team SETIKAH@KOREA. 16 hours ago they were 119K ahead of us. Now the gap has narrowed to 95K. 8)

So press on guys! All to play for! Or at least 15th place, which, if nothing else, is better than 16th.

Oh, and just in case you didn't know, as I didn't until very recently E@H now has a decent CUDA application which I'd urge all NVidia card users to give a try.

Finally our efforts for this challenge have got us up 1 place to 94th by total credit and up 38 places to 102nd by recent average credit. :D

Looks like alezevo1 and janos have a good chance of making it into the top 100 on this run. So they'll be hanging in there with you! :D

...the only E@H capable NVIDIA card I have is already on it for what it's worth (not much as it's not very powerful). E@H does prefer 1Gbyte or more video RAM (with 512M you can't use the PC while running E@H and you have to reboot to clear video ram if you do anything with it). 512M is the minimum E@H will run on anything less it 'll either error out or turn up it's nose and not send WUs... :?

With a bit of luck we should maintain our place in the top 100... RAC places us at 92nd now.

Maybe, my work has been demanding lots of non-BOINC crunching time of late. I am, probably, going to invest in more hardware but to do so I will really do need to raid the sofa for more lost coins...

Well i'm back from Lithuania and it would 'appear' that after a few too many malted beverages i ' appear' to have one clicked on a second cuda card which might appear over the weekend, emm ooops?
Well not much I can do but use it is there?
Recon I have about 50 -60 K of pending credit on this so would be nice if I do make top 100, something to aim for.
After this one think orac's off on the Seti hunt.

We are just 40K behind SETIKAH@KOREA.
We have just 65 hours to close the gap so lets go for it!
Maybe your new toy will arrive in time to be deployed. As it is you are exactly 100th in the challenge.

Still keep getting knocked out of the top 100, sitting at 101 just now. Should overtake Greece United some time today in the world team stats though so that's good too. Wonder if the postie has any goodies for me today ???

And he did... installed, config file written so I can use both GPU's and......
Einstein is down. looks like we broke the server

I would but I don't fancy WCG screwing up all my settings by overwriting my Boinc managers on each host I connect..... if they could play by the same rules as everyone else then I would. The only custom installs here are mine :)
And i'm just about out of Einstein units. GPU's ran out hours ago

Once you've got your WCG account created you can attach to it much like any other project without uninvited violation of your set up,

ok, ok, nothing like a bit of peer pressure. Have created account but didn't download boinc from them , so hopefully will work without it messing with me. How do you set the resource share ? as so far it seems to be ignoring the resource share set in bam.
Out of Einstein so looks like that challenge has ended anyway.

The WCG resource share settings are well hidden.
Log into "My Grid" -> Device Manager -> Device Profiles .
Click on your default profile to edit it. What you are looking for is called Project Weight and is right at the bottom of the screen.

Anyhow E@H is back working and we are up to 15th! :) But it's a close run thing so you've an excuse to avoid WCG for the next 32hrs.

WCG sorted cheers.
Currently back on Einstein but as I ran out of units hours before the server started up again I am starting from scratch. Think the top 100 is gone now but will keep going. Could be done with a boost from all my pending credit for a late dash to the line.

Team currently holding 15th but think we are in a dog fight to the end. If we do hold on then not a bad effort at all.

We've also overtaken Greece United in the world stats up to 93rd and giving us breathing room on this project, so win win so far.
However DC Russian Union are about to come steaming past us, so back to 94 in a day or two. Not surprising with the effort they have put into this challenge.

Challenge completed.
A comfortable 15th place for the team in the end and a very respectable 31st place individually for Megacruncher.
