January challenges
#1 January challenges
There is a ridiculous amount of challenges being posted up just now with no regard for other challenges already posted up. I will continue to announce them but I for one will be ignoring a large portion of them.

Can we go back to opt-in to a challenge status?

Only MacDitch, still crunching but absent from this forum for a while, can change the setting which says that we automatically take part in all challenges.
This is because Boincstats have counted his Founderships and found that they outnumber mine and have accordingly declared him Founder of TSBT: That he commands a moderately sized shoal of often inactive minnows and I lead a slightly less numerous but generally friskier school of whales is of no consequence. Rules are rules and rule even if not ok.
I'm doing my best to wrest back control of the team - no disrespect MacD but for lots of reasons the Commander in chief should be a little more involved.
The processes for this are slow but I'll keep working at them. The only thing anyone else could do would be if those with Founderships could transfer them to me so that Boincstats recognise me and I can do what is necessary.

Hardly one of the big projects but if you want leadership of: http://volunteer.cs.und.edu/wildlife/te ... ?teamid=49 you are more than welcome.Megacruncher wrote: The only thing anyone else could do would be if those with Founderships could transfer them to me so that Boincstats recognise me and I can do what is necessary.

I quite like that we enter all the challenges as we have the option of simply not doing them if we don't want to. The problem comes with so many challenges being issued at the same time.
The Dutch GPU Cows issued the ongoing WCG challenge and they are not taking part in their own challenge ? What's the point. As for issuing a challenge on Oproject@home. I sometimes dip in there and have it currently suspended it as it is a total basket case project where nearly everything is broke and wouldn't touch it with a barge pole !!! The message boards are good for a laugh though, especially when there is open warfare between the crunchers and the admins !!
As a stop gap maybe we just need a little more coordination on a challenge we intend to do as it suits team goals and the rest are left as a case of do it if you fancy a scrap. I did the NFS challenges all by my lonesome but thats fine as I chose to do them and had a laugh along the way.
If there is no defacto set up head of the team, did I not read somewhere on BoincStat's FAQ's that an admin account can be set up. Would that work in this case ?
