We are badly in need of an Einstein boost - 100th place and under considerable threat - so I suggest we give this one laldy. A week all out on it will be enough to restore our fortunes

We've pretty much seen off the relegation threat - steadily pulling away from the God-dodgers and gaining on the Ruskies.

But let's do some serious ass kicking as well in the challenge.

I know you and Janos will be top 100, lets see if I and anyone else in the team can join you 8)

Has anyone played with the GPU utilization factor?
GPU utilization factor of BRP apps DANGEROUS! Only touch this if you are absolutely sure of what you are doing! Wrong setting might even damage your computer! Use solely on your own risk! Min: 0.0 / Max: 1.0 / Default: 1.0
I tried at 0.5 to run two apps but I am fairly sure there was a performance drop.
I've reverted to 1.0 until I can research more.

I'm going to try and help with this - but no promises as it may go horribly wrong....

I run 0.5 with my 660ti and my 650. At the moment i'm also running seti on the 610 ( it's just not worth being on einstein. you get cpu speed as not enough memory on card ) that gives my 5 units all at 0.2 cpu so 1HT core clear for running GPU. The 650 is slightly better at 2 than 1 ( not much in it, mins really ) but the 660ti is about 20 - 30 mins better running 2 v's 1. I found that running boinc on 99% ie 1 core or HT core free in my case is required if the GPU usage doesn't add up to 1 core makes all the difference. I also found that if running 0.5 don't run WUprop or freehal at the same time as they do kill you're advantage. I don't know which cards you're running but they may be so fast that the benifits are negligable for you as GPU's are not true parallel processors . Einstein is the borderline for my cards. Seti, milkyway and poem all run better at 0.5 with far higher benefits than Einstein, never tried collatz at 0.5 ( mini collatz would prob be fine ) but DistrT etc would be a waste of time. It seems to me that the less memory intensive an app is the better it performs run in multiples.
Now if only my Einstein credits would stop going to pending....
Any hoo, TSTB cracking along in this. 6th from 12 but no threat below us at all. 4 of us in the top 100 another 2 in the top 200. Bit of a scrap going on for top dog in TSTB. Gentlemen, start you're betting....

But I think Mega will have the last jump as he has much more hardware than I do.

We will see. It's too close to call and the game's not even a quarter over.
The team showing is certainly respectable - 6th of 12 active entrants - but the individual TSBT performances are impressive. Last time I looked I was 5th, Janos 6th, Peter Teago 53rd, Alezevo1 69th, PinkPenguin 112th, William Brown 135th.
Go guys go - we could get more into the top 100.

The team is going great. Like Mega I just wish we had a few more in the top 100. If we continue as we are we will finish in 6th. We only need a few more people to take 5th place.
Megacruncher wrote:Last time I looked I was 5th, Janos 6th
Funny, last I looked I was 5th and you were 6th. I guess that means it is my turn to get jumped over. :)
In first place is Grey with 10 times that of our best crunchers. I would hate to have his lecky bill!

you're not the only one, 8 hrs since i had a validated unit. Think i read something about them changing out a server and replacing the cooling system in the server room. Don't think the validators are running at the moment.
Team up to 99th in the world though

Keep Calm & Carry On Crunching!
Yep major hiatus in validating GPU WUs in particular. They'll sort it & when they do our situation in general, and mine in particular, will improve dramatically!
Reclaiming 99th is a biggie - well done to all involved.

Not kiddin!
I thought I was in with a good chance of leapfrogging back over you. I was less than 20k behind and gaining but you dropped in ANOTHER 100k in the same hour. Nice crunching :)

Thanks.
Just over halfway thru this challenge & I think we can be pretty sure that TSBT will finish at least 6th & the two of us wil finish in the top 10 individual ranking. As to who will be top frog it is far from over!
And I just noticed, TSBT are up to 98th by TC in Einstein! :wav:

98th woohoo!
I fear the GPU users group are flying up the table, I think they will take 6th.

One can only hope they will overclock their GPUs enough to blow themselves up before they get too close...
Nice to see the fight at the top - naturally I have a large shot of whiskey ready to celebrate whoever wins: :wav:

Surely you mean 97th wayhey!

'Fraid so. In fact they might overtake more than just us - they've done almost as much in a day as we have in 4. A few of their individual members might even interrupt our cozy little battle for 5th.
I must pop down to the basement and look out for some stops to pull out.

Well they ain't in the basement! :)
I think you will start pulling ahead now. I had a temporary reprieve while the gpu validator was down / backlogged. Your current rate of crunching is much better than mine.
I have a birthday soon, I wonder if I can haggle a 7970? hmm

Mega 5th
Janos 6th
alezevo1 41st
Peter Teago 77th
and a PinkPenguin spotted skulking outside the top 100 in 120th (but was spotted higher)

...Still skulking around in the boondocks - doesn't matter how many CPUs I put on it my daily credits stay the same or decrease! Bugrit millenium hand and shrimp, I hate relativity!
If you and Mega both make a million each before the end of the comp (which you both will) ...I will certainly hit the grappa myself and will be only too happy to owe the pair of you the aforementioned snifters...

Gribbet!
Well done everyone. We gave the Aussies a fright and improved our position from a fragile 100th to a robust 96th (95th any minute).

And so I crawl out of a field in Romania to deliver the final scores....
We moved up to 95th and may even pinch 94th in the world rankings.
In the competition we held 7th from 16 teams and finished only 34k behind the Aussies.
Individual positions were
Megacruncher TSBT 6
Janos of TSBT 8
alezevo1 39
Peter Teago 92
PinkPenguin 125
David Jackson 211
William Brown 217
DonTex 262
B McT 354
Mad McMax 371
from 1295 users.
Well done to all and an awesome display by Mega and Janos adding over 2 million to the team total between them.
