It appears that there will be no work available for SIMAP over the duration of the challenge.

http://boincsimap.org/boincsimap/forum_ ... ?id=72#211

An alternative may have to be arranged.

No tasks left on the simap server. Time to choose a different project for the last challenge. Suggestions ?

I suppose if you work down his project credit list it should be;
GPUGRID
ABC@Home
Freehal

No idea what any of them are like though?

GPUGrid is GPU only project.
ABC@home hasn't had work for months
freehal has been dead for months and is similar to wuprop ie 1 unit per computer nci project

Sorry, should've done a bit more research
I was going to suggest fight malaria but I see it's been having some issues too!
Then seti but it's the cause for a few challenges that overlap.

How about Einstein?

Simap will officially have no work available until Sept 1st so an alternative will have to be put in place for Simap. Maybe we should do FM@H as it is our team project and we do need a boost on it, although LHC or Poem could also be done with a team boost. We also do well on NFS as a challenge.
Alternatively we could go for something completely new like Convector and see if we can break their server :D

Only 8 days to go, we need to choose a new project and change the challenge ( is this possible )?

MacD is the only person able to create challenges and the only person who will know if he can change or delete them. I'd be surprised if they could be changed but deletion sounds a bit more likely. Whatever I think that a new challenge will have to be set up.

Anyway I'd be inclined to go for FMAH because it is the team project and has been relatively neglected of late.

Works for me. Anyone spotted Mr MaCD ?

Nope. Not a trace. :( I'll pm him.

If the worst comes to the worst we will just have to let this run its rather uneventful course and do another one later.

SIMAP is already out of work with none expected until the day the challenge finishes.

See post elsewhere about no internet.

Have contacted BoincStats and asked them to swap the project to FMAH.

Hopefully back online soon.

I hope I'm not reading too much into it but the their homepage says the project is down at the moment.
Fingers crossed it is back in a few hours as it says!!

I suspect it will not restart until 08:00 Monday morning, at the earliest.

could be an 'interesting' start to the challenge then :?
I've got some units almost done but have been trying to download some more today to get a head start for the comp :(
Although if nobody else has managed to get any work I might be able to briefly top the leaderboard!?

It won't be the first challenge to start with the project offline (used to be pretty standard for SETI in particular).

Anyway I've got many 100s of completed FMAH WUs and enough un completed ones to keep most of my cores on it for most of Monday, by which time the situation might be sorted.

A little late but all ships on FM@Home.

Spent the weekend on a nice little island off the coast, and forgot my phone in the car. Realized it once I stepped onto the ferry.

 Oops.

Not really. Everyone got put on hold for a few days. Did you enjoy the elevator music while trying to reach me?? :D

There's a major problem with the stats with our results not being reported. Several other teams are also affected. Some teams who haven't even entered are getting their results reported. WTF?

I'll post on the bugs section on the BS forum & see if they can sort it. :(

It looks like the stats are showing for the old project and not fmah.

That would get us all zero points. Sici and the Aussies results are Mondays FMAH results sure enough. So too are the results for the other 3 teams, all of whom are minnows who have never entered a challenge before.

It must be something to do with the change of project though.

Hopefully something can be done to rescue the situation. I've been struggling to get anything on to this anyway ( scheduler again )and the units I had cached were all reset by the server as timed out

Sadly it doesn't seem to be repairable. :( Will we scrap it and start again?

I would say yes, reset it.

Reset seems the only way as this is a competition in the dark at the moment. Can willy at Boinc Stats set it up to start ASAP or do we need McD to arrange a new one ?

I'll ask for a reset.

are you going to ask for the competition to be extended by the 2 days wasted as well ?

sorry just read your pm on the BS board. Hopefully a reset and week long challenge starting midnight tonight.

How did you guess?

Basically the challenge had been utterly FUBARed so deleting all record of it and starting again was probably the best thing to do. :(

Hopefully as the dust from his flitting settles down MacDitch will sign in & see all this. He's the only one who can set up a challenge. We could either try again for FMAH or revert to plan A - SIMAP expects work from 1st Sept.

Anyway no harm done. FMAH got a good boost!

There's a two day minimum before a comp can start, which by my count basically makes it the end of the month. I'll set up a Simap Challenge to run from noon on the first unless someone declares otherwise before lunch.[/b]

Lunch, tea/dinner supper & even breakfast have come & gone, without the new challenge appearing.

Can I suggest 11pm on 1st Sept? We should all have work by then & it might even allow a little bunkering. :)

...Hopefully, he's just lost his way getting home... or fused the internet socket during a DIY frenzy in the new home... I passed his description to the local constabulary ("Scottish with yellow, red, blue and black concentric circles"). They assure me that no one answering to his description has been seen around here above or below the snow line. :)
