I should point out that the Toast Marketing Board (tm) takes a very dim view of WUPROP challenges. They do not make toast, not even a lightly frazzled slice of white bread, and should therefore not be encouraged!

As all six of my droidboxes in a toast rack are taking part I believe that the Toast Marketing Board (tm) have softened their stance to mild disapproval :D
Any hoo, the waiting is over, the excitement has reached boiling point and we are off and running........ and we are..........drum roll........ 5th :P

...and I only need one more project to step up to the plate and my bronze star will finally go silver :bounce:

Can someone explain the WUProp project a little? I understand that it's collecting info about WU your machine crunches, correct? It's non-cpu intensive, which means it can run along with your other projects and it doesn't really consume or require a dedicated CPU to run it, correct? Does only one task ever run at a time?

That's all correct. 1 unit per machine. free credits really.

Has a badge system. Has a quite complicated badge system that gets quite addictive and has a whole group of people who run different projects purely to get the next level of badges. As it's all done by hours run on a project, not points gained , it's one of the few ways that all projects across boinc are equal. People with 5 stars and higher colours are generally very serious crunchers across multiple projects not just the usual suspects.

Lots of info about the projects you are running on your accounts, you can check out what each individual machine you owns percentage of running projects per day/week etc. in your account section.

In the main section lots of info about projects under results, credits per run time, checkpointing etc. you can find out which projects run best on your hardware using the results of others running the same. Compare your stuff agains higher lower spec cpu's gpu's etc.

It's actually a really useful project if you spend some time wondering around it. It's just that since it is one unit / 1 computer , the only way to increase your presence is to run wuprop on more devices. It is kind of pointless running a competition on it. You don't really take part or compete, you are just .... there :D Or alternatively it can be looked upon as simply I have it installed on more devices than someone else.

Anyhow...
We are 4th of 18 which is quite good. :)
I'll add it to any machines not already running it. Free credits - why ever not?
Increasing the number of projects boosts badges - does it do anything to boost credits?

I don't think so. I think the credits are fixed by time irrespective of which projects or how many units are crunched in that time frame. At least that is my understanding, but I could be proven wrong. Looking at my account across various computers, all the units seem to run for @ 21,600 secs for 14 credits.

With 14 hours to go TSBT is sitting fairly safe in 4th :D
Seems my Gerbils should just about be able to out sprint Skywalkers Hamsters to the finish line with both of us getting a top 10 finishing place . Feeding them extra sunflower seeds as I type Image

I have about 30+ hamsters on vacation apparently, seems about 7 machines in the lab are down and I haven't been down there this week to turn them back on.

You win!! :D

Yes, the gerbils had the legs this time :D I'm sure the hamsters will be back on the case next time though .....

So we finished 4th from 19 teams.
Individually
..... for some reason the individual scores are not being displayed. Will update later if they appear again. From memory I think I finished 9th, Skywalker was 10th and Buster was our next entry followed by Paul and Mega.

Well done everyone :)
I noticed that the individual stats disappeared. I think your memory is pretty close Alez, Scole had manage to place somewhere but I can't remember where. And I'm pretty sure I'd managed to pull it out of the bag and overtake all of you guys ;)
