From Simap
Many smartphones are a supercomputer! Samsung's Power Sleep App has been launched by Feb 14. This Android app is not only an alarm clock, but also supports SIMAP. During the night, when connected to WiFi and after fully loading the battery, the CPU of the smartphone or tablet crunches SIMAP work packages.
The scientific computing part of Power Sleep is just the BOINC client. The Power Sleep App has been developed by Samsung Austria and PocketScience in collaboration with the SIMAP team. It makes donating CPU time very simple for people who didn't know about BOINC before. Samsung has launched a media campaign about Power Sleep in Austria. The app, however, can be downloaded from all over the world. We hope this initiative will become a big success and will help to widely establish volunteer computing with BOINC on mobile devices.

Superb news. The power in mobile devices is stunning and an utter waste not to use it.

If I understand correctly how it works I fear this might be fairly pointless.
Phone needs to be: turned on, connected to wifi, and charging.
That's certainly not how I use my phone at night but maybe a lot of people do.
I do think it's a step in the right direction though and fingers crossed I future version it will become better.
Suspect the battery will be the make or break issue to overcome.

Trying the Simap android app on my droidboxes. So far 1 complete and 1 pending with no errors. Will post up a time / credit comparison once I have a bit more data.

HTC have just announced "Power To Give", a new BOINC-based initiative for volunteer distributed computing on Android smartphones. HTC deserve to be commended for putting effort into helping the development of a polished BOINC client for Android.
GPUGRID's very own Gianni De Fabritiis presented at the launch, happening as part of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Video to follow soon, but you can read as-it-happened coverage here http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/02/htc-m ... t-happens/
We're very excited about this! Expect more news soon...
