My goods won't be here until tomorrow. You know how ants are though. Once you see a few, more just show up.
Megacruncher though! He either has some new tech or he has figured out how rock those Nvidia GPUs to the max. colonelmatrix is knockin' some numbers too. What has he got?
Do we need an FAQ about how to get configure the Bitcoin Utopia preferences for GPU vs. ASIC?

Postie has yet to deliver any new tech to my door although I live in hope!
My recent gains have all been on old tech.
On Bitcoin my NVidia GPUs have proven pretty poor and the ATIs have been average.
Astonishingly enough 11million of my recent ill gotten gains has been on from the 6 cores of my AMD FX6300 processing cgminer WUs. 11 million from a CPU in just 2 days!?!?

That cannot be right!

Be aware of the power consumption of an ASIC before you invest in one. The previous generation units, such as the Butterfly Labs Single SC 30Gh/s and 60Gh/s units, use 5 watts per Gh/s. The new gen use 1.25 watt per Gh/s. Just a note because they're dumping the older, less efficent ASICs on Ebay as it's not profitable to mine with them any more. Do the math before clicking that buy/bid button on an older ASIC. If you're going to buy one, you'll end up better off buying a newer one.

The power supplies for my Butterfly labs Frankenstein's devices can deliver 32 amps

almost enough to make my 6990 work properly

My R Box is indeed cute, cuddly and very eco friendly, but there's something soooooo cool in the tortured capacitor howl of the Butterflys. Bit like taking the rally car to Tesco's to do the shopping

I bought a Butterfly Labs 60Gh/s unit too, but I wish I had paid attention to power use first. I don't have a tech shed though. It's in my office whining away. Getting awkward to have the techs pop their head in and ask "Is that your PC making that noise? We better have a look at it." Then I have to say "These are not the droids you're looking for" and send them away.

Could buy a Butterfly Labs 30 GH/s unit for 60 Euro, but after reading above I'll be glad to have found two USB antminers for a mere 15 Euro...

Not sure what Ebay sites you can buy from, but UK Ebay has the 32-37 Gh/s r-boxes going for as cheap as 20 Euro, 12 Euro for one with damaged fan cowling. Keep your eyes peeled. With new 100-110 Gh/s r-box 2's going for 89 Euro, the 32-27 Gh/s r-boxes have to get cheaper than the many listed at 40-50 Euro.
Be wary of the BU arms race though. The Rockminer ASICs (r-box/r3) hang/crash frequently and must be power cycled. It's getting to be way too much work. Taking the fun out of it.
