Is another Einstein challenge too soon? If not, time to start bunkering gang! I'm in. :)

Ok. Had this problem last time on Win 8.1 systems while trying to bunker einstein. My hosts file has this entry in it which should prevent it from connecting to the einstein server, but it still connects.
192.168.1.241 einstein.phys.uwm.edu

If I ping that address, it gets destination host unreachable. Why is BOINC not using the hosts file? Can't suspend network activity because I have BU running on this system too.

I'd love to help but I've no idea Scole.
I spent an hour trying to write firewall rules and trying to block ip addresses on my router and couldn't get anything to work.
I've gone for the high tech solution of downloading a heap of units and turning off network access in boinc. Not much help to you though

Einstein crashing my workhorse system too. The one with 2x 7970s. Changed the config to run 1 WU per GPU and it hasn't crashed since. Any suggestions for this?

Over taxing the cpu's or running out of memory ? I normally have boinc set to use 75% or 87.5% ( 6 or 7 cores ) on an 8 core system or 3 at most on a 4 core system.

24 hours in and we've settled into 4th. Though SETI.USA started flexing their GPUs and suddenly jumped into 6th. Let's see if we can hold 4th for 2 more days. 8)
