If you are already crunching in another challenge, it's time to make sure your Minimum work buffer is set low enough so you can finish those WUs and get crunching on Enigma when it starts. I leave mine at .1 days w/0 additional.

Swap overs are always a challenge in themselves!
Always good to see who manages to get their sums right - I'll give you a clue, it's not usually me

Won't be me either. I will miss at least the first day if not more depending on work and of course the scheduler playing ball or ball ache.

Get a secure remote desktop app and ditch BAM! You now have BoincTask to handle everything from 1 system.

I see there's a few folk having a go at this one
Looks like it could be hard going for us to get a good result!

Remote access is not a problem, time is, on this job. Doing 16 hr shifts to compensate for lack of experience at nights and at the end of that the last thing I want to do is remote access my computers. Bam works all over the world even on African connections and a remote connection can't physically reboot a computer. Got a little bit of time this morning so hopefully once I am finished updating the challenge section etc I will get a few more over and get my kid to chase the rest tonight or tomorrow night. Best I can do, reality is we need more of the team to change projects for a challenge, even if they only do it once or twice a month and not much we can do about that either.

Some of the individual projects are working again. Unfortunately the team stats and individual stats are not so I can't do an update of overall positions and I'm not typing up individual project stats, that would just send me up the wall.Dirk Broer wrote:Ye're doing not too shabby, arrr

If the team stats starts working again then I will do an update.

LAF dispatched, de-limbed and on the frying pan.
Korea next ......
though only if a few more members join us in the hunt to solve the Enigma. If no-one else joins in then we won't catch them and 4th it is and that's after only 1 1/2 days of the comp gone. It's that simple.

Com 'oon Scots! Let's show everyone who's the best team in the UK!

My laptop's bored and decided it wants to join in the Enigma@Home challenge, so team #14 is Anguillan Pirates and my 2 cores are off chasing Colombia 8)

We've taken 4th although with 47hrs left we certainly aren't secure in it.
I'll see if I can find a few more stops to pull out.

Bit of a battle going on down in 13 and 14th team places.

We're slowly pulling away from Korea, but no time to let up. It is time to reduce the minimum work buffer, if you haven't already done so, in case you want jump on the WCG challenge that starts on the 14th at 18:00 UTC, 6 hours before this challenge ends. I'm staying on this one until it's over though. (I have mine set to .05 days)

#31 Re: 8/2-15/2 Enigma mysteries - Enigma@Home
When this is over going to move on some of the more neglected projects for a few days. Rosetta for one is in danger of going south fast.

You've got 9th. How bad do you want to hold it? Willing to suspend other projects for bit?

#34 Re: 8/2-15/2 Enigma mysteries - Enigma@Home
Not really much to suspend as I will hold 9th
until I get knocked back to 10th
Only 8 hrs to go and since I'm not at my systems, not much more I can do.
Noticed Mr MacLennan has come screaming into the top 100 and David Jackson making headway up the table too
6 of us top 100 now and a few more active as well.

Well done everyone!
BTW...It doesn't matter if you have 1 core or 100 cores, it all helps and is much appreciated in the challenges. Some of us have taken this up as a serious hobby but we don't expect everyone else to. We just enjoy seeing others join the forum and post and join the challenges and help TSBT however you can. :)

Anguillan Pirate 142nd - 2 cores of my i5 laptop not runninig 24/7 due to work usage and connectivity issues yet still managed 142 nd. Shows you don't need a monster farm to compete as you may not be in the top 10 but you will still be contributing to the whole team effort and having your own personal battles with those around you who will have similar resources to deploy. I feel just as good about being 9th individually for TSBT as I do that my 2 cores managed 13th of the 14 teams, keeping my record of not being last in a team challenge yet with Anguillan Piratesscole250 wrote:Well done everyone!

Very nice to see some new names on the list and hope that some of you will consider running LHC for the team challenge issued by TSBT even if it is just a core or two for as long or as little as you wish.
Team challenges are won by teams as a whole not just a few individuals and of course it's more fun with a little chat with your team mates. :)
