Campaign #12 Free-DC maintenance.

Campaign to raise $1000 USD in 25 days.


All of the Free-DC stats are run from my home using my own electricity and ISP. Costs per month are around $130 or so. All of the hardware is built using donations.

This will offset my costs and let me do some more upgrades.

I’ve recently received some hardware and have some more coming in the next few weeks. Some of the large server type machines I’ve got are proving a little loud to run at home though, still working on that. What I need in the coming months are the following :

A replacement firewall. This is currently an older P2-800 running smoothwall. As my bandwidth is going up to 300Mbps down and 30Mbps up in the next few months (TWC MAXX) this will need replacing to keep up. Cost ~ $300-400.

900-1000W PSU for a dual xeon coming soon ~ $200
Full size case for dual xeon (EATX) ~ $200
GPU for dual xeon (only if needed) ~ $50

a new campaign for a good cause and of course those badges and WUProp hours

I'm still thinking that the various stats sites (BOINCStats, FreeDC, AllProjectStats, etc.) deserve a ongoing Bitcoin Utopia campaign, Stats Support.

I agree with you on that Dirk, although if they keep starting campaigns for them it gives you a chance of another wuprop project :)
